Day 125: Falling Deep Into One Task
I have a slight problem.
My observation is, whenever I engage in a task - no matter what task, whether business-related, niche-related or anything outside it - I have this tendency to go deep on that one task.
Say I play a mobile game or browse YouTube videos. Before I know it, it's already an hour or two that has passed without me realizing it, by then I already wasted my time.
The trend seems to be that when I focus on a single task at hand, I tend to drop the other things and focus on it solely.
Now this may be a gift or a curse, depending on what task I'd end up doing. I kind of wished I just fell deep into working in my blog, but this rarely happens nowadays.
So what's the big deal then?
Deep Focus on One Task, But Not Always On The Right One
Just recently, I'm deeply focused and immersed in my niche, which is a good thing. The only problem is I have trouble getting back to my blog to transfer what I've learned from my niche.
I'm still focused under a single blogging category, but my mind is already flying elsewhere. As if I want to switch topics already while I'm not done yet.
Can I convince my mind to stay drilling in my chosen category until I've fully exhausted it?
It's as if there's this "ball of focus" that can be molded into whatever I choose it to be. But it's hard to direct this ball to the rightful things in life - the ones I value and put my priorities on.
That said, I'm still grateful because that means I'm still capable of doing the skill of focus. What I need to figure out is how to use this focus to my advantage.
How about you, do you find yourself able to focus deep on the things that truly matter in your life?
