Great Traffic Source - Quora
I recently asked a question of the WA community about the 1 thing that they've done that has resulted in the most dramatic increase in traffic to their websites. I received a lot of great answers, with the general consensus that Social Media platforms were the best source of traffic outside of the standard Google search results. However, there is one interesting response I got, that I put to the test - answering questions on Quora.
Since then, I've answered roughly 18 questions on Quora - but it was my answer to the question, "How can I drive traffic to my website without being charged an arm and a leg?", that struck pay-dirt. Ironic, right? That question received over 1.5k views within the first 72 hours, and my website traffic spiked nearly 100% as a direct result of referral traffic from this one response. You can see my response here:

Conclusion: Social media is definitely a very good traffic source, but don't underestimate the power of getting active in your niche community. Participating in Q&A sites or other blogs within your niche can have surprising results.
Good luck!
Dave

Thanks for sharing, David! I've heard from Quora by different people and always said I will check it it out, but in the end didn't. This time I don't say anything, I just do it!
That's pretty cool, though completely off-topic I have to say that what stood out most for me is that when I clicked on your link, I discovered that I apparently have an account there... And I have absolutely no recollection of ever making one. In fact the name Quora only sounded faintly familiar, as if I had *maybe* heard of it before....
So weird.
EDIT-- I also meant to ask if there are any restrictions on what we can post in responses. Do they frown on links to pages with affiliate links?
I have used affiliate links before, and the moderators have allowed it. You just have to be careful not to sound overly promotional.
I answered my first question there last night and left a link to a post I'd made on my site. We'll see what happens.
It may take you a few answers before you get one that really generates some interest. So keep at it. Maybe you'll learn something along the way. I certainly did.
Thank You so much for this post.
I am going to get busy with Quora, Reddit and STumbleUpon!
So much to learn, So much to learn.
