Confidence

Confidence is a belief in oneself, the conviction that one has the ability to meet life's challenges and to succeed—and the willingness to act accordingly.

Let's repeat that last part - the winningness to act accordingly. Ability and knowledge are, of course, valuable, but taking action is the key to being confident.

I have known many people who talk in fact and listen in opinion. That is, what they say is the truth - it's a fact, but what you say is simply your opnion on the subject of the conversation. As a result, it can be doubted and argued. Those who fall into the category of "talk in fact" my seem to be confident, but that confidence is all action without the knowedge factor. While taking action may be the skyscraper, ability and knowledge are the firm foundation.

Tips for building self-confidence

1. Look at what you've already achieved. It's easy to lose confidence if you believe you haven't achieved anything. ...
2. Think of things you're good at. Everyone has strengths and talents. ...
3. Set some goals. ...
4. Talk yourself up. ...
5. Get a hobby

With regard to number 1 - don't have strict rules for achievements. Did you just read a good book? That's an achievement! It is not necessary to orbit the Earth to have an achievement; take a walk around the block. You achieved!

Finally, don't let others take away your confidence. Often others (even those who are close to you) will say things to discourage you. Remember that you have belief in oneself.
