Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

I recently noticed that my left hand had no feeling in the finger tips and the left hand was noticably colder than the right hand.

Went to the doctor who performed tests to confirm a diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The Carpal Tunnel is an area of the wrist where nerves and blood vessels pass from the arm to the hand. Somethimes this tunnel gets compressed and the nerve connections are reduced.

My situation was severe and so surgery was recommended to correct the compression of the Carpal Tunnel.

I am having that surgery today. Not sure of the recovery time frame, but it is likely that I may not be able to keyboard much - so writing content my be paused for a time. Perhaps I can learn to keyboard with only the right hand.

I am looking forward to having my left hand back to normal, and hope it is sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your time in reading this personal post.

Here's what I did for a quicker recovery from two carpal tunnel surgeries: I flexed and stretched the fingers on both hands as much as I could, right after surgery and continued doing that during my recovery. I was able to avoid physical therapy by doing this. If I felt significant pain I stopped. It still takes a few months for your hand to be completely pain-free but you will eventually have a normal hand again.

Also, don't lift anything with that hand for at least a month or two, very important for a full recovery. Good luck and use dictation software as much as possible. Google Drive has a built in dictation feature.

hello Dave I hope you recover well I had the same surgery on both my hands when I was 27. In my case it was so severe that I couldn't bathe my newborn baby boy which was also the reason I didn't have surgery before which made the carpal tunnel syndrome worse until I had almost no feeling in both hands .

My rehabilitation took a total of over a year so I hope it goes a lot faster for you

good luck anyway

Dave, I pray it goes well for you. When I was having problems similar I did online research. Started taking stem cell nutrition capsules and all my aches and pains went away. Been using the capsules 4+ years now and, at the age of 78, I don't have any problems and don't take any medications. I recommend nutrition over surgery whenever possible.

You'll do fine, Dave! My wife, Monica has had those surgeries on both arms--hers required an incision at the elbow and wrist. After a year on the first, she needed it performed a second time. The first surgeries reduced the pressure on the Median nerve, the second one on her left arm reduced the pressure on the Ulnar nerve!

Praying for an excellent result, and a quick recovery for you, my friend!

Jeff🙏

Thanks Jeff. So far I am able to support the left arm and do limited keyboarding. Surgery went well and not much post op pain.

That's very good to hear, Dave! It sounds like you will be back in business in no time, my friend!

Jeff
