The only time I bold words in my blog posts is when I'm trying to make a specific point, call to action, but I don't overdo it!

There was a time when that made a difference, but not a big difference anymore.

I personally never heard that but I don't think that it really makes a big difference.

Sometimes a bolded phrase that happens to also be a key phrase makes sense in that it helps a reader scan and retain interest in where the post is going.
I think that's the only reason to bold a bit of text.

I have to agree with everyone else here, it's not going to make a difference.
