It's Flag Day here in America!

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. More HERE.

To me, it is a symbol of freedom that was earned by patriots who fought, and continue to fight when required, to preserve the freedoms we here in America so fortunately enjoy. I have visited countries around the world and each time I return to the United States, the freedoms I enjoy stand out when compared to some of the 'not so free' places I have visited.

You are so right about that, David! We should always celebrate it! Leave it to Muriel Bowser od Washington DC to add a 51st star on the ones being displayed in the Nation's capital! An affront to all of us veterans!

I heard that this morning on the news. I'm only 50 miles or so north of DC and she's running for a third shot at mayor. Crime is up and the jails are SO BAD that a Judge just released one of the people serving time for the January 6th event. She's all about "what's in it for me" while acting like she really cares. Both Mayor Bowser AND Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC's elected Representative to Congress) are both pushing this 51st State idea. Hopefully it will never fly!

Thanks so much for YOUR service.

Thanks for your service too, David, espeically since you retired! I didn't but I have a lot of repsect for those who did! Washington DC is supposed to be neutral for a reason, and this goes against everything that we who served believe!

I see "the point" of the residents of D.C. who reside there but your point is well taken. The district is SUPPOSED to be Neutral for a reason.

Thanks, David! It is true!
