Goals! Goals! and more Goal1
What I learned again in Course 1 Lesson 2 is the importance of setting goals. I have known about setting goals for many years. I need to be reminded of the need to set goals when starting a project. I like to go full steam ahead, dam those torpedo. ; )
I am going to show how I worked thru setting my goals for repeating this Certification. I am planning to dedicating 4 hours a day to doing this project. I plan on doing each lesson in 2 days. With 50 lessons that should take 100 days to complete the project.
- 4 hours a day.
- 2 days per lesson.
- 50 lessons.
- 100 days to complete (14 weeks or 4 months July 5)
- Complete my website from start to finish
I have just completed a major project to get my real estate license. I took a course online and had 6 months to complete it. I started out tracking the project and was complete with the first two chapters on time. If I had stay on course I would be done in six weeks no problem and would have time to spare. Well one thing lead to another. I needed to work overtime. Then I had a website to build. I quit tracking my progress and the next thing I knew 5 months had passed and I had to get going. I did complete the project in the six month time. What I learned about goals with that project was 2 things. One, Dead lines are important and need to be kept. In my mind the six month deadline was the one that had to be kept, not the 6 week one. Tracking is very important to keep you on track.
Now I need a way to track this project. I have used many ways to do this before. Some with great success and some without. I have used Post It Notes, Gantt Charts, White board and many others. I would like to ask your help on ideas to track a project. If you would write your way of tracking a project in the comments we all learn something new.
Thanks
Dave
