This post will be of Interest to you, if like me, you have just upgraded to Windows 10, have turned on your PC, full of excitement

clicked on the Ie icon, to download chrome and you suddenly discover that when your browser window opens up

The screen doesn't fit!! ...

Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The man in the shop said it would be alright... Where has some of my screen gone

In desperation, you think

Hang on a moment, this is the browser, I'll install chrome and it will all be alright

So you promptly download and install Chrome, getting that nice warm, cosy feeling in your tummy, as you reassure yourself, that in about a minute, all will be right with the world

Chrome download, you install it and then click on it, to check your emails

Nooooooo!!!!!!!

Its still the same

You can do most things with the screen you want, except, poweron, poweroff and Oh yes... You cant even see the email folders you have spent months, creating for organisation

What To Do?...

So if you are in this situation, as I was this morning having just picked up my newly cleaned and de~mucked up computer, that did have windows 7, but due to the fact that Windows 7 Support is stopping in a few months, was upgraded to Windows 10, then don't pull your hair out, kick the cat, swear, or do anything else hotheadly just yet

Because, Drum Roll

please...

There is a very simple answer, which I discovered, having created Windows versions 11, through 65 in 45 minutes of Arrrgghhhhhing!!!

The answer my friend, was blowing in the wind ( oh sorry I digressed into dream world!)

What you have to do is this

Click anywhere on the screen in front of you and then right click

Select Display Options

From here you get taken to a screen, which asks you about resolution settings

There will be a number x a number EG 1900 x 1700 or something like that

That number is the current width of your screen, so obviously its too big!

But, under that number, you are able to select a load more numbers, which go doen as low as 800 x 600 or something similar to that

What you need to do, is, as I did, pick each number going down the list. When you do, you get a box appear which says, keep changes or revert

Tick, keep changes

then look at your screen and I was checking my gmail account

With each change, the screen rapidly, morphed into what I knew and loved previously, until I was happy with it.

With each change, all the other parts and tool bar options restored themselves until I was happy with it

Finally I checked my blogs because when checking those earlier, all of them were showing me the screen not fitting properly

Hoorrrrrayyyyy and Yayyyyyyy, they were as I liked the look of

Success!!!!.... Whoo Hoooo

Normal service has been resumed, thanks very much.

Its just as well, because when I picked up my PC this morning, I was asked by the chap whose shop it is, if I can clean his and his wifes website up, as it is not his strong point and

Unbelieveably...

He had let a customer of his, who runs a B&B, have a go at doing it and it looked shabby!!

She did it, because she didn't like the look of hsi website, but is no tech wizard

So I can now get on with doing his website for him

The great thing is, that using the website builder I use ( DIvi) I can do it no problem at all and then I will write a review of his shop on it, and send it to him, through my website link, so he can see what I do and what his website will look like

Finally...

Windows 10 ...

This morning and for a couple of hours I absolutely detested it... Ye Ukkk, not thanks

However, it is only the operating system and IE will not be my default browser, but I can see some benefits to what it does and will no doubt grow to love it

But if you are in the same boat as I was this morning, don't fear, it can be sorted

Hi Dave,

As time goes on you will learn to like it a little more each day.

IO bit software has some great software. Most of the programs come with a free trial.

I purchased a license for IO Advanced System Care and Driver Booster 6.5.

One of the best investments I have made. I certainly recommended their soft ware.

Try it on a trial basis, and if you like it I do believe it is about 24.00 dollars to get the licensed version.

Thanks for commenting and sharing Mike

I am still running Windows 7. Too Scared to upgrade. have windows 10 laying on the shelf. My concern is which of my programs will no longer work with windows 10 and will I have to search for new drivers?

I loved 7, but with the support ending soon, we won't have much choice but to upgrade Bryan

Too true, but it is still not something I look forward to :-)

No admittedly it takes a little getting used to

I have had Windows 10 since I got my computer a couple of years+ ago, and I hate it!

I finally had to disable the updates, because it took hours to do them, and my machine would not work properly when they were uploading. Without the updates, it's doing okay, but wish I could find something I liked better.

I'm slowly learning about 10... Jury is still out on it, but as its an operating system our PCs need, we have no choice but to have A Windows version on it : )

You'll like Windows 10 when you get used to it.

I had it on my desktop for some time and I just found that things stopped working after updating. Had to uninstall updates and wait for the next update to get pc to work better. Eventually went back to 7. So much for that. now I must go to 10. :-o

Now that you mention it. I believe another from the WA community mentioned having problems with Windows 10. I haven't as of yet.

Thanks for pioneering this! I found the Windows 7-10 differences to be the smallest of all the Windows changes.(I clung onto XP as long as I could, way back.)

Same here, loved XP.

Oh XP was great, 7 was better and like all these things, we'll get used to 10 in time

I have been windows 10 for a couple of years now and I enjoy using it.

Derek

You'll love it once you get used to it. Then it'll be time for Win 11 to come out. lol

I love me some DIVI. It's like Legos for websites.

Thanks for commenting and your right about Divi

Well done Dave.

Many thanks for this training. It's something we need to know.

Best wishes to you.

Thanks for commenting I appreciate it

Thanks! Windows has become so very confusing after each update. Especially when they make changes only programmers would ask for. They've done away with batch files in favor of "Power shell,: which look like a programmer's tool. Each new version disables othe products. Congrats to you for getting the upper hand on those new display settings.

Thanks for commenting I appreciate it and more by luck than judgement

Good tips you shared, Dave. Thanks.

My laptop runs on Windows 10 while my desktop PC is on Windows 8.1. I will take note of the steps you shared in case my laptop behave abnormally.

Thanks for commenting Gomer and glad it helped you.
