Week 2: Making an Impression

For those just starting along the long path towards their goals they’ve stated in the WA community, every little step you take gets you a little closer to that first goal. I’ve continued walking towards my first goal for a second week now with the WA community. I’m still devoting a lot of time each day to go through the training and take the actions to translate what I’ve learned into my website.

Overall, everything is going well and I continue to make progress. The biggest challenge for me this week was obtaining affiliate membership. I am still waiting for acceptance (or denial) from a couple of affiliate programs which would be great for my niche. I think the limited size of my site may be temporarily impeding my access into some affiliate programs. I have, however, obtained a good product through ClickBank which I now have placed onto my website… It’s a start. And, it does have a high commission percentage so let’s see how well this first one works!

Although it’s probably not critical at this point, this week I spent time to set-up Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools (as well as Bing Webmaster Tools). I’ve always been a data-oriented, analytical person throughout my career so, without being able to view any data I felt uneasy and on-edge… like an addict that hadn’t gotten their daily hit. Now, I’ve set myself up to get my hit each morning when I take a few minutes to look at the data!

Through Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, I’m encouraged to see my website is starting to get impressions (how many times a user saw a link from my website in Google search results). Although many of my first impressions are still quite a long way into the Google search (fifth page of results, or higher) and I can use a single hand to count the number of clicks they received, I do have a few appearing on the third page. I can’t say I’m making a Great Impression but I am making an impression!

Day 11 (dedicated about 5 hours)

• Provided comments on several websites
• Added Google+ connections
• +1’ed Google friends’ articles
• Installed Google Analytics

Day 12 (dedicated about 6 hours)

• Wrote a new post for website
• Provided comments on several websites
• Google+ connections
• +1’ed Google friends’ articles
• Responded to comments left on website

Day 13 (dedicated about 7 hours)

• Signed up for new niche-specific affiliate program (offered via ClickBank)
• Provided comments on several websites
• Added Google+ connections
• +1’ed Google friends’ articles
• Completed Making Money, Lesson 3
• Installed Google Web Master Tools
• Installed Bing Web Master Tools
• Added more images to existing pages
• Responded to comments left on website
