Week 1: A Few Steps Along the Path

Well, it’s finally here… I’ve completed my first week of training with WA and have taken several small, yet significant, steps towards my goals!
For those who are new to WA, I understand it can seem like a long path towards your goals. It feels that way to me too. But, it’s important to keep moving forward, not lose focus of your goals, and remain upon a straight path to them (don’t get distracted).
I’ve been able to dedicate a lot of time this first week to start building my foundation and thought I’d summarize the week so others starting their path can see a few footsteps to hopefully encourage them not to stop.
Now, I’m not a fast writer and I tend to take my time (probably much longer than is necessary) when I’m doing things for the first time but I do expect that my efficiency will improve over the next few weeks.
Day 1 (dedicated about 7 hours)
- Completed Getting Started course, Lessons 1-9
- Chose a niche
- Researched keywords
- Created a first website on SiteRubix
- Created About Me & Privacy Policy pages
>> Yeah, I’ve stepped onto the path!
Day 2 (dedicated about 6 hour)
- Completed Getting Started course, Lesson 10
- Completed Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website, Lesson 1
- Became a Premium member
- Obtained a domain for my niche
- Transferred my website from SiteRubix to my own domain
- Wrote the first page of niche-specific content for my website

Day 3 (dedicated about 8 hours)
- Completed Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website, Lessons 2-4
- Wrote two pages of niche content
- Wrote my first post
>> Yahoo! More valuable content and I have a first post to share.
Day 4 (dedicated about 3 hours)
- Completed Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website, Lesson 5
- Browsed Wikimedia.org and Sxc.hu to become familiar with free image sites; located some other useful image sites.
- Wrote my second post
>> Hurray, my website has been indexed by Google!!!
Day 5 (dedicated about 4 hours)
- Searched for and added images to existing pages and posts
- I created a few images for a specialized page I previously wrote
>> Yippee! My site’s starting to look a better and I have more of my very own content!
Day 6 (dedicated about 9 hours)
- Completed Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website, Lessons 6 – 8
- Created a Gravatar.com profile
- Offered comments to 6 other WA websites
- Created my first long-tail keyword post
- Updated all of my posts to a personalized user account.

Day 7 (about 6 hours)
- Completed Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website, Lessons 9-10
- Created and shared Google+ account
- Offered comments to 2 other WA websites
- Connected with more than 20 people on Google+
- Wrote new page of content for my website
>> Yahoo, It’s time to learn about monetization!!!
Hopefully, at least one person will find this information encouraging and it helps to keep them walking the path towards their goals.
