Arrival Complete
Hi Folks. Well we made it to Amsterdam after a quick 3 hour journey from Ghent. We were not at all disappointed that we were not stopped in the Netherlands then tied up and investigated. We actually had a nice day in Ghent.
If you have not been to Ghent and you like ancient buildings of all types then get yourself to Belgium and visit Ghent.
Now we arrived in Amsterdam, we unloaded the mystery machine (Ford Galaxy), and it took 5 adults to get all our gifts, duvets, food boxes, and other stuff into the flat and up the stairs which are the steepest I have ever climbed.
We then had to take the car across town, park it in a free parking area rather than pay 34 euro per day. We parked and then got on something resembling a clowns bike which had a fixed wheel meaning I had to pedal backwards to brake, very odd. For those who have never rode in Amsterdam, it is amazing and we did it in the dark.
More from our adventure over the next days.

Sounds like you're going to have a great time! BTW, back in "the day", we used to break by pedaling backwards. Enjoy your time.

One of the soccer teams I followed is call Genk, I think Kevin De Bruyne used to play there as a kid, so for a while there I thought I misread Ghent for Genk lol.
Ancient buildings- I see, now Ghent is on my radar. Just like my dream of visiting other ancient structures around the world, the pyramids being number 1 on the list
Valley of the Kings is well worth a visit
