I've had some sad results as well, I've also had some comments that I made that I put a lot of effort into only to have it denied.
I guess it's kind of taking the good from the bad, it's like that in every community.
I am only giving comments that are at the very least 200 words. I take the time to actually read the blog post and comment with relevancy. But ok, whatever.
