So I have been a member at WA for a few weeks now and here are some thoughts and observations so far:
- Pro: Niche and website idea came easy for me (helping Veterans), so I think that content will come naturally to me. I have dozens of ideas for blog posts and information I can share.
- Con: Wordpress is new to me and I have obviously missed some steps somewhere because I don`t know how to change my site`s menus and organization very well. I`ve made it through the first 20 lessons of Kyle`s training and I`m hoping I come across some more in depth Wordpress training soon.
- Pro: I am very impressed by Wealthy Affiliate and the people who make up the community. I would rather spend time on this website than on Facebook, Twitter or any other site. True learning going on, excellent training, and awesome feedback!
- Con: I tried a webinar and it went right over my head. Google and Bing webmaster key codes, Google analytics, plugins...all that stuff was too advanced for me at this point and I guess I haven`t gotten that far in the training yet. Kyle`s step-by-step approach is easy to follow so, once again, I hope I get to these parts of the training soon so I can understand some of this stuff better.
- Pro: I definitely see the long term potential of affiliate marketing and learning everything possible that WA has to offer. It is something I can commit to and work on a little bit every day.
- Con: The Keyword search engine tool confused me a little bit because when you put a phrase in, it puts quotes around it when it goes into Google. So, for example, if I Google "best jobs after the military" (with quotes), my website is already on page 1 (spot 5) on Google. That`s awesome! However, if I Google the same term WITHOUT quotation marks, my website is no where to be found on the search results. Since my guess is that nobody will ever take the time to put the quotation marks in themselves when they do a search, this could be a problem. It appears to me that Jaaxy keyword searches do the same thing...they put the quotation marks in when they run the search through Google. So the actual results will be different, when someone does a Google search without quotation marks, will it not? If someone could explain this to me, I would truly appreciate it because I feel this is critical to success and maybe I`m missing something.
Thank you in advance to anyone who reads this first blog post of mine on WA and/or responds. I truly value everyone`s opinion and everyone who has offered assistance so far. I hope to return the favor whenever possible.
Thanks!
Dan
