Little Dose of Progress
This is my first blog post on Wealthy Affiliate! I'd intend to blog regularly, first to stir up and flesh out ideas, second to establish a routine of working on my training and my business, and third as a record of my progress.
Firstly, I feel like WA is the training, coaching, and platform I've been looking for, so I'm excited to be a part of it. I was considering a $7000, 3 week long "crash course" program in email marketing when I found WA (many thanks to BNakedScam!). The other program, while having it's own merits, simply wasn't what I was looking for and seemed like a recipe for failure and frustration. Taking the time to slowly build from the ground up, on the other hand, IS what I am looking for. So here I am.
I upgraded to Premium membership today, and did the annual renewal option. Since I was willing to pay $49 per month, I am certainly willing to pay $29 per month. If I meet my 2 year goal of $2000 per month, not only will it pay for the membership going forward, but I will get my $700 investment back in short order.
I also updated my goals. They are, to quote the popular meme, Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely. let me elaborate:
Specific: I have set milestones and they have "No later than" dates. I may set up another blog just to keep track of goals, as right now they are buried in a discussion thread somewhere, and I'd like them to be prominent somewhere, where I can see them every time I log in.
Measurable: there are income values with dates assigned.
Achievable: If I didn't think they were achievable I would not have publicly published them. The income values are based on testimonials mostly, but also on my own interests. The dates are based on blog posts from other successful WA members as well as my own timeline. For example, some ambassadors have mentioned that it took them 4 months or 6 months to earn their first commission, so I've given myself 6 months to earn my first one, and made my birthday in September the no later than date to make it fun!
Relevant: My goals get me into the type of business I'm interested in, help me achieve the lifestyle I want, and most important help me become financially free.
Timely: My goals coincide with my near future occupational career plans, as well as other looming financial decisions. For example, I'd like to retire in Florida, and my cousin who owns a condo where I'd like to retire wants to downsize and move in the next few years. Building a successful online business helps me achieve the income I need to live the lifestyle I want, and solves my cousin's problem as well.
Now it's a matter of knocking out the training then getting my first website up to speed. I plan to use the WA resources, get the feedback I need, and course correct as necessary to hit that initial goal of first sale by my birthday. Wish me luck!
