Diamonds In The Rough
What are Diamonds?
When someone tells you - you are a Diamond in the rough - how does it sound? Does it denote pleasant or bad metaphors?
As defined, it can be a person who is kinder and more pleasant than they seem to be from their appearance and manner.
Although it is never a bad thing, nor does, sound a pleasant compliment, it depends on the tone of voice and how it is said.
Diamond is a rare gem, and that contributes it to be the most expensive gem upon the face of the earth.
Diamonds are being extracted from a pressurized environment, while the Diamonds come from carbon. So, what are carbons, what is carbon made?
These are the Chemical Properties of Carbon:
- Chemical Formula: C
- Oxidation: Combines with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO)
- Reactivity: Carbon does not dissolve or react with water or acids.
- Chains of Atoms: Carbon can make long strings, or chains, of atoms.
Carbon atoms are formed under high temperature and pressure, while they bond together to start growing crystals.
The diamonds are such hard materials because each carbon atom participates in four of these covalent bonds that form between carbon atoms.
- Carbon is abundant, common.
- Forms strong covalent bond
- Have four valence electrons.
- Variety of shapes.
- Bonds with multiple elements
While those are very scientific terms, that is, the description of the properties and characteristics of carbon element.
How are diamond cut and polished from rough stones? Cut refers not to a diamond’s shape (round, oval, etc.) but the proportions, symmetry, and polish.
So much, with the explanation of the elements of carbon and its formulation, and the extraction of the diamond. How does it relate to the reality of our endeavors as a person and our journey towards success?
Diamonds are products of extensive search, extraction, and deep mining, as it involves removing the layers of sand and rock found just above the Kimberlite.
The ore in the pit is then broken up by blasting and once broken is loaded and then transported to a primary ore crusher where the diamond extractor process begins.
I like the analogy of the refining process of a Diamond before it becomes the most precious gems among all other elements on earth.
It is comparable to our quest and our endeavor to personal strength and successes in life.
Why I come up into writing about Diamond because we too are as comparable as Diamonds, we do experience extensive pressures before we become the person we desire to be, as we go through the process of challenges and knots in life.
I woke up this morning, was contemplating my journey toward success. I as well just as everybody else, is experiencing my share of pressures for years. I whispered to myself - to continue to press forward, and never quit.
Come Up as Precious Gems as Diamonds
We liken ourselves a community of atoms that form a strong covalent bond with each other.
And are like-minded, who have common goals and aspirations to search for knowledge, to educate ourselves through training, that we all come out stronger and polish just as the Diamonds, become the most precious Gems after its refining process.
We can be Diamonds in the rough as we started our journey but will end up shiny Crystals and Gems in our terms as we find success in our endeavors.
Glad, I am one of the travelers in our journey in WA.
To Our Success,
Anne

This article of yours is so informative AnneDaclan1. I've learned a lot from this. Truly, diamonds are precious, AND SO ARE WE.
Thank you Rguanzon, not everyone comes from being a Diamond in a rough. They must have found being gems (strength & success) long years ago. Yet, I like the analogy of how the Diamonds are being processed into its refinement until it becomes the most precious gems of high value. Thank you for dropping by and taking the time to read.
