Freezing here in Michigan - It's no joke!
Hi everyone, I have been working extra hours on my website due to the cold weather in Detroit... I am not kidding, when I say cold... it is a freezing nightmare!
I work downtown in Detroit, designing furniture for night clubs...The yuppies are moving in and the city is starting to turn around after many years of poverty and hardship, for many Detroiters.
I never went into the auto industry like much of my family, layoffs are common for line workers. They make great money, when times are good but I have also seen some really bad times.
The people here in Detroit have a great spirit and are excited for what's happening now.
Temperatures have been well below freezing even in the daytime. We have a saying in Michigan, wait ten minutes and the weather will change!
Sunday, the temperature will bounce back and is expected to hit a high of 47 degrees...Yah!
Yesterday, I took a picture from Belle Isle Park, an Island in downtown Detroit. It was 15 degrees below zero, when I took this picture.
The photo is looking across the Detroit river. In front of you is (Canada - Windsor.) You cannot see the water, it is completely frozen.
Don't try it, the current is fierce. Some have tried and most have failed. You will also get arrested if you cross over to Canada.
About a half mile to the right, up the river, is where "Houdini," was lowered into the water...he nearly lost his life because the river has a fast current.
This is also where the fireworks are shot off every July.
