How To Capitalize When Your Fingers Catch Fire

i know a lot of you folks struggle to write some days. I only know this because I have the same issue sometimes.

Mondays are particularly terrible for me as my weekends are generally tiring. I'm young, may as well burn the candle at both ends, right?!

I digress.

Sometimes you get on a writing roll. I have thought long and hard about the importance of writing every single day and have decided that I would rather NOT write every single day, and only write when I'm really feeling it.

I have a couple reasons for having made this decision:

  1. I'm more focused on my content and am able to write more uniquely worded articles.
  2. I'm willing to put in the time to properly research the topic I am discussing.
  3. I legitimately enjoy the topics and the idea that this could be a revenue generating article. (Call me shallow for enjoying the profit side of things if you will)
  4. I actually type faster, find media with ease, and have direction.

I like to describe the overall feeling that comes with this as my fingers being on fire. This came about because of the fact that my keyboard was a little warm, I was typing at unprecedented speeds, and the content was flowing from my head to the page like I had never experienced before.

This all stemmed from me being in the mood to write.

So how do you capitalize on these newly dubbed "fire-fingers"?

Write as much as you possibly can in that sitting. Save drafts. Revisit later.

Kyle's certification course that encourages you to go through a power writing session is helpful when developing a strategy to do this.

Usually I scribble down a few of the topics from my keyword lists.

I try and keep these topics relatively similar so ideas can flow from article to article.

Outline these topics in a bit more detail.

Now sit down and write as much as you can about each topic. After all, this is the most important part of creating content. Once you get the content out of your noggin and into a post the fine tuning is easy.

Then... take a break and feel accomplished. If you managed to plug out three 1,500 word articles in a sitting, your fingers are most definitely on fire. You may be developing a slight bit of carpal tunnel but we will save that topic for another time.

So go out and conquer my friends, fingers on fire and head full of steam. Comment below after your writing session.

Heck...if you disagree I want to hear your strategy to writing.

If you prefer to write every day shoot me some encouragement in the comments as well and maybe it will help me catch fire every day rather than just once or twice a week.

Probably should have thrown some pictures in here. Maybe later. For now I'll publish it as a raw draft.

Cheers,

Dalton

We definitely need inspiration to write.

For me, daily writing is also not possible because of time. I have to attend to my full time day job ( but could also do WA during lunch breaks and when not so busy ), my family ( lots of household chores , lol ) and community activities.

It takes me 2-3 days to finish an article until publishing, sometimes more.

I'm slowly building my website, that's for sure.

BTW, I like how you write, so engaging.

I routinely throw stuff out there as a first draft and then use it a s a model to polish up!

Glad to hear it! I've found it really does make hitting that publish button easier throughout the week :)

I am writing in stages. First I determine what I want to write about, then I search for a couple of great headlines in the keyword research tool (also often used as Tags), then I start my investigation on the internet and write relevant sentences under the headlines. When I have 4 - 5 sentences under each headline, I start writing my story and make the sentences fluently fit into nice paragraphs.

Sounds like a solid strategy! I might give that shot. Sounds sort of like an outline with some main ideas that you develop as you go along. Appreciate the thoughts.

I think we all have a different approach to writing content. I personally don't write in big chunks as I find there is so much to do to promote a post, once it has been written and published.
However , I know people who will write a months worth of posts in one go and then schedule the publishing of them.
Whatever works for you is the best way.
As long as you are writing, it doesn't matter.

True story Karen.

I guess figuring out what works best for you is what will make or break you when authoring content. Hopefully you've found the strategy that works best for you and you have been able to create some great content out of it.

There is a lot that goes into promoting a singular post, cannot argue with you there.

Thanks for the thoughts and feedback. Greatly appreciated.

This is exactly what I and many others are struggling with and that's why it's so important to write or speak about. My writing fingers could be on fire when I least expect it and all around the clock (almost, I do sleep).

I think it's very important to really take the time when you have this kind of writing attacks.

Writers block can be tough Jan. Glad you've figured out how to push through it. With a little bit of sleep woven in there.

Thanks for commenting.
