Do Affiliate Links Hurt SEO?
Can adding affiliate links to your posts cause them to lose their rankings?
And how many affiliate links per post is too many?
Those are the questions covered in today's video.
Also, for those interested, here's the stats from the case study I mentioned:
- The article contained 6,500 words
- The article contained 300 affiliate links
- That works out to be approximately 1 affiliate link for every 21 words.
That post ranked #1 for 5+ years & I just checked, it's still on page 1 today.

Hi Dale! You just answered one of my burning questions about the number of affiliate links. Super insightful! Iām curious, though: do you also keep track of broken links?

I always wondered about that, and limit my articles to 2 aff links and I usually do banners in the side bars. But I think Kyle may be right about the links taking your visitors away from the content that you worked so hard to write, because SEO analytics does record visitor behaviour. The longer they stay on-site the higher engagement points you get from google for good content...āļø
The goal is to get your visitors through your affiliate links; the sooner that happens the better! šŖ
