Potential collaborator?

Today, we received a message from one of the competitors on Facebook. He said that he can help increase the members of our group but we have to pin his page on our group.

Sounds good right?

We checked his profile, his page and his group. Within 3 months, he has almost 4K followers and group members. Wow, at the beginning, we thought he did the good job. Well, when we reviewed his posts on his page, we found something very familiar. OMG! He stole some of our posts (not share). Not only the picture, but also 100% text, our opinion on the picture. He even stole our "thank you post" to our fans, just change the logo of his page. And today he wants us to pin his page on our group, is it too ironic?

Then we also found he stole other good posts from others. We tried to find out his website, no website. We checked his YouTube channel, he put 100% video content from NASA as his YouTube masterpiece.

OK. He is just a thief. He does not have any idea of astronomy, and abused his fans and academy.

Now I totally undertand why his page and group increased quickly. Actually, we found a lot of trash groups related to science or astronomy on Facebook. We are a small page and small group, but we care the quality of our post and our brand. Giving the time, people will recognize who is the real scientist and who is the pickpocketer.

I just want to say good luck to him. Truth wil be exposed one day.

Have you ever met content stealing? Welcom to sharing your point.

Unfortunately this will always be an issue.

Some people simply find it easier to steal from others.

I would report him to Facebook and also see if you can contact any others he has stolen from.

NASA might also be interested in what he has been up to.

All the best. Jim

I think his request of putting his page on your page is twofold:
1. He is scared you will find out and make life difficult for him.
2. he wanted to let you know and is testing your reaction. Perhaps someone is sueing him and he wanted to now who that was.
Whatever you do, do not give him permission to join, do not even answer him.
What I would do is thank him in one of your facebook posts several times for the posts he placed on his Facebook as a great and kind proof that you are the better people with the better product.

He will not be able to say anything but, you are welcome. However, most people reading this will understand its meaning.
Good Luck.

It's the old saying when it seems to good to be true it may not be! Glad you checked him out and wish you the best moving forward allowing no one to steal content.
Are you listed as a private group? Check on your security and a plugin to avoid this in the future as Trevor noted.
Best wishes,
bill

Hi Daisy, first of all I do not understand Facebook. If this person is violating the rules by using other people's information to gain an audience, I do not understand why he still is allowed to post on Facebook. I think some parts of the system are broke.
It is nice to see your integrity, and your decision not to collaborate with him.

Best wishes,
Michael

He did something very trick.

1. He hide himself for personal search. Obviously he is afraid of being searched.

2. For his page, the posts are not good enough to be qualified as Astronomy. I cannot pin his page on the top of my group. a "thank you post" is 99% the same with mine.

3. For his group, he, as admin, created the posts which are stolen from mine and others.

Since his group is small, he may not be found by other owners. The most ironic part, he wants me to pin his page (containing my post) on my group. Crazy!!!

Hi Daisy, it is so nasty how some people try to use other peoples hard work for their own advantage. I would be tempted to report this person to Facebook, but I am not sure of what that would consist of. I see Facebook sometimes suspend the wrong accounts.
I am sure you did the right thing.

Best wishes,
Michael

It is unreal how blatant some people can be, as you say the wheel turns.
