Altering Your Habits
Altering Your Habits
(C) 2017 -Dr. Carl Welliver, PhD
Habits, they are a fact of life and we all have them, and oh those foul habits from time to time rear their ugly heads. Of course we acquire our habits through training, influences of others, observing others that we admire, and of course practice.
We acquire a lot of habits throughout our life, some of these habits are good and some of them are bad. The good habits we may keep and practice on an ongoing basis, but if one truly desires to better their life then the foul habits have to take a hike. We must understand that eliminating bad habits sometimes is not simple, especially if there is a dependency involved. For this reason, today I want to share with you some helpful tips on changing our habits.
As individuals we often wander through our lives making excuses. Anytime an individual sees something they perceive to be complicated, they will frequently make excuses why they can't deal with the issue or why they can’t change it. I know that even I am guilty of this but I have an awesome team (Sunday, Sherry and even MBB) to help me through these issues and keep me focused. It doesn't matter whether I am writing a new book, preparing a blog post, developing a marketing plan, or strategizing with our production crew on the newest release I have my team to hold me responsible and I them likewise.
But for some this is a rough-cut problem, and I am sure that you have heard the excuses a million times why we cannot change. But, if you're out to better your life, you need to proclaim, “This is something that blocks me from my desired accomplishment(s) and I've the power to change it.”
Being able to declare the foregoing is the first step to the key to success in quitting making excuses, in doing so you are committing yourself to making better decisions and forming new habits. time labeling others as well as ourselves. But this gets us nowhere but in a world of chaos.
So let me ask you a question.
Do you think negatively? If so you can alter this simply by changing your belief system. I can’t alter this, becomes I can change this about myself. My life is full of bunk; I can’t swing it any longer. Becomes I can change any aspect in my life. And why me? Becomes why not me?
Once you understand that if you spend your life believing negative and stating negative connotations, then your life will be negative.
So it is up to you to attempt to change your ways today.
Once you begin to make even the most subtle changes to improve your life, yes, you can begin small. Rather than jumping the gun, take little steps toward your success. Too many times individuals try to change overnight. But, this only leads to frustration.
When you are working to alter your life and your habits make certain that you seek out support and feedback. There is no need for you to walk the road to success alone. Feedback can come from so many different sources, friends, family, social groups etc.
So isn’t it time that you got started?
What are you waiting for? START NOW!
Until next time this is your friend Dr Carl reminding you that I have nothing but love for you, and I will see you next time around.
