Brute Force Attack saved by WP Sucuri plugin

Thought others would find this interesting and helpful.

For the past 4 days one of my other sites outside of WA has been undergoing a Brute Force attack every hour or so. They were trying the user names admin, administrator and the site name to try and log on. Each attack made 30 attempts to get in from a different IP.

Fortunately I have been using a free WP plugin Sucuri Security - Auditing, Malware Scanner and Hardening that let me know it was happening. I had changed both the default name admin and used a strong password when I built the site so nothing untoward happened.

While it may not be a problem for WA SiteRubix it certainly is for those of us who have sites outside.

You can access the latest version of the plugin here.

It has a number of useful features like telling you whenever your site is logged into, brute force attacks etc. Take a bit time to configure it otherwise you email InBox may get over run with messages.

Excellent!

Another plugin that is well-known for security is WordFence.

Looks like an awesome plugin!
