Homeschooling Is Not Just for Children

Generally, when we think about homeschooling, we think about grades Preschool through High School. But, Homeschooling is not just for children any more.

More and more adults are referring back to their computers for the knowledge they used to go the library to get. Those Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Research Books, Scientific journals, Newspapers and Magazines are now just sitting on the shelves getting dusty. Don't get me wrong, there is still an enormous about of information in those libraries and we need to support our libraries.

Adults are choosing to go back to school/college to get their degrees or just get a better working knowledge of today's world. You can do research 24/7, in your PJ's, in the comfort of your own home or coffee shop, wherever you can access the internet, on your tablet, computer, or smartphone.

So, education is only a click away for today's student, no matter what age they are. Companies are even training their employees on the computer now. Direct sales companies have put together a training system that allows the reps to learn the business, build their personal confidence and the company policy. Changes, within the company, can be communicated almost immediately, when they use the computer to communicate with their employees.

Isn't it amazing how far we have come from paper and pencil?

Good point Carol. So what will happen to all those wonderful bòoks that are sitting on the shelves in our great halls of education?
Something to think about.

Have a splendid weekend !!

Gary

Sadly, more and more of our libraries are closing or being relocated into larger libraries. Our next generations will not know how we walked to the library or had the Bookmobile come around and distribute books.
Times change, technology changes and we lose the active life to the keyboards of computers and video games.
Thanks for your comment, Gary Helm.

Oh, for sure. What I learned in public school is nothing compared to what I've taught myself on the internet at home. It's the new way to learn!

You are right Boothe. I've learned so much from my computer. I'm still not fluent in finding things, but people keep saying 'Google It' and you'll find the answer to what you're looking for.
I've learned more during this season of my life by homeschooling my granddaughter through a virtual school.
