The Power of Consistency
Just wanted to make a short post about being consistent. As we work through the training here at WA, we all notice that almost every lesson after the first few always has "create a new piece of content" as one of the steps to complete before the next lesson.
Before the holidays, I was in a good rhythm of completing a lesson, doing some keyword research, then creating a post and my site was starting to show the rewards of regular activity. Traffic was increasing as more and more of my keywords started to rank.
During the holidays, though, it was a different story. Life happens and I had a bunch of other obligations that kept me from any regular activity on my site. Site visits slowed down and my rankings started to dip. Plus, when I sat down to start creating content again, it seemed like it took more time than usual to pop out a blog post.
So, all that to say, there really is something to being consistent. It helps your site's rankings, it helps with traffic and it helps your ability as a content creator, so post regularly. Even if you don't have a niche-specific post ready, post something that is a little out of the ordinary but still relevant to your niche.
I wrote a Christmas post with affiliate links to holiday-related items on Amazon. That's not what my site is about but I loosely related it to what my site is about so there was some value in the post plus it makes you more relational. I even did some keyword research and added those in there because it still builds traffic and keeps consistent content on my site.
Just some food for thought. Have you noticed the same thing?
