Sad State of our priorities
This week my husband and I went to the next towns school ( my kids graduated from) 15 minutes away. To see a girls basketball game. The first game was against a school 30 minutes away. They had thirteen players, one fan. Last night it was a tournament game ,team was 20 minutes. Away, thirteen players 4 fans. Our team had 50 or so fans. My question is were are the parents of the players.
Also there was a story in the paper that less then 2/3 of parents have ever met their child's teacher. When my kids were in school it didn't matter if their team was bad or good we were there and I always went to meet their teachers.
I think it is a shame that parents today don't support their kids. Then they wonder what happened when their kid gets in trouble.
Ok that is my soapbox for today.

One of my top motivating factors for working online! Anyone not paying attention to their kids now, is going to regret it later.
Sounds strange, here in Sweden atleast in our county Wermland we Always support our kids and youngsters playing icehockey and fotball(soccer) and I Always walk around on the golfcourse when my daughter is playing, maybe it´s different in every country ? :)

Yes you can!
Now days with people working two jobs and stuff it is hard to be everywhere.
I am sure hopeful that is the reason for them not being there. :(
I started working night shift when my daughter was born. My husband worked day shift . So one of us was with her all the time.sometimes you have to make sacrifices.
Those are worth making though. Awesome that you guys choose to have one home all the time.
You are right. We should always back our children even when their team is not the best. It's knowing you're there that the kids want. I remember when my kids were in school and their team couldn't win a game the stands were full just because we wanted to see them do their best.. It meant the world to them for us to just be there
I taught public school for 30 years. You and I share the same soapbox! When kids don't do well in school, everyone is quick to blame poor teaching. However, I think the parents need to share a little bit of that responsibility. There were many parents whom I NEVER met. They never came to a parent/teacher conference. They never came to support the child's team at a game. They never responded to notes sent home. It was, indeed, sad.

Wow, that is sad. We miss very little of our daughter's activities.
