Progress?
So, being new to the whole internet marketing gig this has been an interesting journey so far. At times I have felt that the progress I have made wasn't coming fast enough, or that I wasn't making any. Looking back, all the hurdles I jumped were not as big as they looked from the leading edge. In fact, I can remember having issues, but for the most part not what they were. I'd say 95% of the help I got was right here on Wealthy Affiliate.
The biggest problem I have run into and thru... So much information to take in from the lessons, while wanting to complete the site, right now! I overcame this by going over and over the lessons until I felt I had a handle on the info and was ready to move on. It is great that I can pop back to lesson 1 page 5 if I need a refresher or have a question on it. It is hard for me to be patient sometimes, especially since I'm so excited to have the opportunity to become independent and financially secure with all this.
My site is coming along nicely. I had to adjust the page vs post to get the layout to work the way I wanted. ELMOcat76 has the blog to read if you want a blog roll on every menu page! After I mucked thru that fiasco, with the site not ELMOcat76's blog, I began to feel some accomplishment with the site. It had been since it got indexed in Google that I felt good about it.
As I added content and fleshed out the site I began to feel better and better. One thing to mention is the fine print on Amazon Associates, they want you to prominently say "Hey reader, I'm an Amazon Associate." Hopefully mine is prominent enough and they don't boot me. :) (DoubleTap, I basically stole the page layout for that from you! Thanks! :P ) Actually, adding the disclaimer to the menu somehow made the site feel professional. Hopefully all my traffic thinks so too! I think I will add the disclaimer in fine print to my footer as well, just to be sure.
The latest thing I have done to improve the site was to add social media icon widgets. I was hesitant to add those, but after seeing them on the pages, they look good. I am not a social butterfly, so this phase of training has been the most painful for me. It would appear that I am going to have to learn how to deal with it though, especially if I want to succeed.
Looking to the future I can still see many obstacles, and I'm quite certain ones I don't see will crop up. I am confident though, that with the help of all of you here at Wealthy Affiliate I can make something of my site. Hopefully I can return the support to you too! I do feel good about my site so far and am excited to see how great it will be in 6 months, God willing I keep working at it!
cheers, cass "cronkito"

Thank you. I would be completely lost if I couldn't reach out to the community or go back thru those lessons, for sure!
It's really good to read other peoples experiences. I've hit a wall and when this happens I find it hard to know where to continue! As long as we tell ourselves "just keep moving forward" I know we will be ok :)
I know, right? I keep telling myself "little by little" and it seems to be coming together, little by little. Maybe my next site I can build in a day and be done with it, but it's all learning on this one.
Yeah I'm tempted to start another site but keep thinking "No get this one sorted first!" lol Good luck with everything, I'll watch your progress :)
Yep. It's a good thing my head is so hard cause I always end up hitting them with that first!
Yup, if I've got thick skin it's all on my head! I do happen to know where you can find a good hard hat though... think I saw it in with some chain saw accessories... ha ha!!!

What a good blog post.
I was 10 years anti face book now I'm always on it promoting my message.
It's not a social thing but and audience is what you need.
I think your a great example how you can go from not much tech knowledge to running your own site through WA.
Keep rocking and rolling brother
LOL. I am still anti Facebook. I can't remember why exactly though. I do have WA twitter g+ and pinterest though, so I feel pretty good there. I'm sure Facebook would be a good move, but I'm not ready for them yet.
