FORM-ing: Personally Promoting WA Without Being Pushy

Offering the WA opportunity is like selling. Not because we earn from it, but we are providing a solution to a problem.

I would be sharing a simple technique used in network marketing/direct selling in approaching prospects. This is called FORMing. FORM is an acronym, which stands for Family, Occupation, Recreation, and Money.

This technique could save you time and effort. Sometimes phone calls or conversations wander since we don’t know what to talk about.

This way, we can promote WA while not being sales-pushy. People love to buy but hate being sold.

This will also help us re-establish the connection and relationship to our contacts. You aren’t connected to your 1000+ FB friends everyday, right? What do you feel about long lost acquaintances popping up a message and say, “I have an opportunity for you”? It just doesn’t feel right.

So let’s get started. But first of all, we must adhere to some mindsets before approaching anybody.

    1.We all have problems and MOST of the time, it’s all about money.

    2.People are looking for money-making opportunities.

    3.You have the most amazing solution to their problem.

    4.You’re in control of the conversation (i.e. you will ask the most questions)

Upon approaching your prospect, keep in mind that you’ll be looking for loopholes/problems within the family, occupation, recreation, and money categories. What we want is to squeeze out a problem if there are, and if none, we should create one.

Example script:

You: Hi John! How are you these days? Are you busy right now? I’m updating my contacts checking everybody’s okay and all… (You can make your own conversation starter) Where you at?

John: I’m fine. I’m okay. I’m at home.

You: That’s cool. How about your wife? Is she still teaching at the University? How about your kids?

John: Yeah. My wife’s being promoted if she’s willing to be relocated but we’re still discussing it though. My kids are doing fine, they just got home from school.

You: I bet grandpa and grandma are enjoying the company.

John: Yeah, grandpa’s sickly due to the weather though.

Stop right there. Let’s identify problems that could be linked to money. First, if you called during working hours and someone is at home, probe on it, they maybe currently unemployed or doing their own business. Ding! WA can provide the opportunity.

Another concern is that his wife’s incoming promotion could mean relocation. Relocating is sad, right? But if the price is right, sacrifices should takeover. Ding! Why aspire promotion for few hundred bucks when you can earn way better online? WA can provide the opportunity.

Grandpa is sickly. Ka-ching! That sounds like additional expenses for their family. Being sick is costly nowadays. WA can provide the opportunity.

Did you see that? There are problems linking to money in that short conversation. Continue asking your prospect, listen genuinely so that he/she can feel your concern. Probe. Probe. Probe. Now, ask them regarding their occupation, recreation, and money.

Money is not directly asked though, there are many ways to probe it, be creative. This will take a lot of practice.

Just keep in mind, be genuinely concerned. Feel the timing. And when you pull that WA promotion, use third party approach, it sounds better.

You: My friend Kyle and Carson showed me something online that really got me interested. I started learning how to make my own website, wrote some articles and made some money in it. Would you like to hear more about it?

John: Who’s Kyle and Carson?

You: I bet you’d ask that, here, visit this page…

Lately when I talk with friends or family i've been listening to what people are talking about and see niches within other people and tell them about how they can make their own website for free and write on the topic they are extremely knowledgeable about. Each person I have talked to about creating their own website about their own niche has been interested in doing this. They engaged in questions about how they would do this and and I point out how much information they just taught me about their topic of interest I have offered to show them where they can do this when they have some free time we can get together and i'll show you in person.
