The Setup
The Setup:
I am using site rubix website hosting.
1. I have bought my domain name through namecheap and pointed the nameservers to WA.
2. Uploaded my theme (a custom genesis child theme built from magazine pro)
3. Installed my plugins:
adrotate
all in one seo pack (already installed)
auto terms of service and privacy policy
disqus comment system
insert post ads
ninja forms
nina forms analytics
share buttons by addthis
simple social icons (genesis theme follow buttons)
4. Installed my google analytics code
5. Created my categories
articles
featured
jobs
news
The reasons for categories:
Articles are the normal post.
Jobs are the posting regarding new work from home opportunities
News are the post for news in the work from home industry (new companies, closing companies, new software, etc)
Featured - there should be 1 featured article every week. Google wants consistency regarding content, and your readers will too. You should always try to post on the same day each week to not confuse your readers and provide a stable source of news.
6. Created my email through WA
7. Got a logo created through fiverr
8. Setup Social Accounts:
Facebook, Twitter, soon will be instagram and pinterest
Facebook and twitter for sharing the articles
Instagram and pintrest for sharing infographics, people love sharing infographics so they will spread them for you.
Advertising:
I will have an ad at the top in the header, 2 square ads in the right sidebar, 1 above the footer. I am using adrotator to put affiliate banners to automatically rotate to make it look more natural to my readers. In my posting, I have an ad after the second paragraph through the insert post ads plugin.
Due to the ad posting, the site looks more like an official news source rather than a personal blog; I want my readers to feel like they are reading a news source regarding the industry of work from home.
"Be the expert" - that is the philosophy regarding my blogs, people come to read my sites over others because I provide the news and up to date information. My twitter and facebook will be the same, except with more articles that aren't on my site. I will build twitter and facebook followers naturally through posting useful information about the niche. I will sprinkle in my articles and affiliate products to my followers. This method works better than trying to build a large base with just your articles.
Next Setup: Research for which keywords to target for content creation.
