Hello everyone. I've just joined and am already impressed with the sheer size and amount of activity in the community.

I've been on the Internet pretty much since it started yes, even before Google was a thing. (Man I wish I had moved to Silicon Valley and tried to join when they were just a startup). So I think that I know a few thing about the Internet, programming and how stuff works but haven't managed to translate that into any action - maybe this sounds familiar to some people. It's one thing to know on an intellectual level how this stuff works and what to do, but it's an entirely different thing to apply that knowledge to help people and make money while doing so.

I'm probably going to get laid off my job before the end of the year so am looking to do something useful with my time when that happens and I've chosen affiliate marketing. I've been working on some apps for the Apple App Store and over the last couple of years have started to actually make some money from them. I'm currently making $5-$10/week from a single app which isn't a lot, but it has been a real eye opener for me. It turns out I can "make money while you sleep" as the saying goes.

My goal here at WA like a lot of people is to have a separate stream of income going and hopefully generate a significant amount of money so as to be not completely reliant on my trading-time-for-money job to support my family. I filled out the goals questionnaire when creating my starter account and honestly I would be really happy with something like $100/week.

There was a great quote in the first lesson:

"Success is not an event. Success is very cumulative in nature. This means that everything you do now, and every step you take will contribute towards your personal success in the future."

Reaching small goals on the journey are significant. Uploading my first app to the app store was a big goal. Making my first sale was a thrill. Now I'm making regular sales a couple of months in a row.

Keep building on previous successes no matter how small is my new motto.
