My Blog is Getting Hot With AdSense!

It's a hot sunny afternoon here in the Philippines, quite a sleepy one, but we're determined to make this day productive.

I used to avoid placing Google Adsense ads in my blog promoting Wealthy Affiliate, but then there's something that came to my mind that made me include one. (Disobeying Kyle)

Correct me if I am wrong with this thinking...

I thought, if right from the start my visitors see banners promoting WA, they might leave early thinking it will be just like anyone else's blog out there where the only tune is "Join WA".

Of course, WA is a good company, and actually the best. But, that is for us who are already familiar with how good this business is. But for people out there especially other MMO affiliates annoyed by our scam reviews, they might leave the site right upon stepping at the door.

So, I got this thinking of using a strategy, of putting my "sales pitch about WA" on the inner part of the website. I mean, covertly in a featured blog post...

https://gomermagtibay.com/turn...

On the gate, it will look like one of the popular blogs out there with Google ads on the sides. (You can't have those Adsense when you're blog have not reach a level of popularity yet)

To my surprise, the ads being displayed is missing the point, what's really is this site about!

My blog is about "turning passion into profits", but it looks like Google Adsense misunderstood the word "passion".

They displayed a banner ad promoting a brand of intimate apparel.

Are they thinking my blog is about "Passionate Love" or "Passionate Evening"?

Or perhaps the ad is just new, and still taking the pulse of really are the content of my blog about.

What a playful mind I have! lol

Let's brainstorm about this, especially about my experiment of putting everything about WA on the inner part.

We all have our own preferences, yours may be different from mine, but let me hear what you think about mine. Something like a feedback.

I will listen...

Cute! I am considering adding ads but hesitant. I like the banner Ad Choice. Can we choose where we want the Ad?

1

Yes. And I prefer them to be in the side bar widgets of my site, right side.

I just read this and had a good laugh about "passion" :)

Hi Gomer, I think the Google Ads don’t show up according to your niche. Instead, the type of Ads show up will depend on the visitor’s search preference. They’ll show up Ads relevant to the specific visitor. So the Ads showed up in the same page will be different for different visitor according to their interests.

Correct me if I’m wrong though.

This shows why artificial intelligence can't match human intelligence.

I searched on Google using keywords "passion" or "turn passion into profits". They misinterpreted it as a search for "passionate" or "intimate" things.

1

Haha, but I believe they will be able to catch up with human intelligence one day very soon!

UPDATE: After using our Site Feedback feature here, I decided to heed the advice of putting something that will add attractiveness to my overly simple website. So, now, I am adding a small WA banner on the front.

WA Site Feedback rocks! :)

THINK THEY DEFO MIS UNDERSTOOD....IS IT WORKING THOUGH? :-)

Interesting and funny. It seems like the algorithms need a bit of tweaking.
I think that's a great idea. You would have gained the trust of your visitors by then and have their attention more.

It takes Google a little while to figure out what ads to place on your site. They also won't place the "high payout" ads on your site until they know you can generate the clicks, as the click through rate is important to the advertiser paying the bills. I remember some of the weird things showing up in Adsense on our sports site - had absolutely nothing to do with sports!

2

Oh, I didn't know that. Thank you. Maybe the reason why I no longer see $1 per click rewards. Just $0.01 to $0.05.

1

Thanks for sharing the idea.
What theme are you using?

2

Child theme of Omega, by ThemeHall. I downloaded the theme, and then uploaded it to my wordpress.

1

free?
Why child there?

2

Yes, free. The old and original Omega looks "old fashion" to me, so I checked the child themes and I like the Me Wordpress Theme. It fits the message of my blog and I like its being minimalist. Simple-looking theme that lets the visitors focus on the content.

1

Thanks for replying.
Your reasoning makes sense.
I like the theme too.

Dam, am I the first? I guess so. So Gomer you are in the Philippines...me too. What city are you living...I am in Mindanao.
I looked at your site and basically I also did not put WA banners on my site (jet) or maybe never...It just does not ad up with the product I am promoting or selling. On my next site definitely! I also started Google AdSense today...interesting concept that google pics the ads...but hey, I guess it generates income eventually..
The guy thru whom I found WA, gave the wise tip, even that HE himself beliefs in WA strongly, that one should not go to the Bootcamp and promote WA first, IF you have not found your own personal niche jet. Makes sense...so promoting WA on my current site at this early point in time does not make a lot of sense to me either. Thanks!

1

Oh, you're in Mindanao? Good to hear that. I just hope it's not in the troubled territories.

With regard to the topic, I read this blog written by Jeremy Page with the heading "Top 25 MLM in 2017". There were comments from WA members protesting the inclusion of Wealthy Affiliate among the Top MLM companies, but Jeremy insisted that even though by design of compensation plan WA is not an MLM, but the behavior of people here, members are so dedicated to WA like MLMers dedicated to their respective companies.

With that thought, if you market upfront online WA, competitors.. upon seeing your stance, they usually shy away. Just like dedicated Amway distributors, when they get into a website owned by Herbalife distributors, they leave the site in haste thinking "Oh, just another competitor site".

That led me to thinking that, instead of waving WA's flag upfront, I need to use a subtle strategy. Hook them with the topics, and then lead them to WA at the end of a blog post with a text link call to action.

But I'd like to hear what others can say about this. And thanks for being the first to comment here.

All the best,

Gomer

A subtle approach is definitely best. It just depends on your site. Yes I am in Butuan, so no problems here! You??

I am in Bicol region of Luzon, near "perfect cone" Mayon Volcano. :)

1

Drove by last year when I bought a car in Manila...nice area. Do you go to Manila often...

1

I used to travel back and forth Manila-Bicol before, but seldom now. That was tough you did, driving the long and winding Pan-Philippine Highway. Lots of potholes. (lol)
