How awesome would it be to have a lost of strategies to help kick your but back into gear :)

This list is exactly that.

I go into a little more detail in my blog post: The Introverted Affiliate: What is the psychology behind procrastination

However here is a snip-it and a list of 20 procrastination savers.

Enjoy!

  • Practice do it now mentality — what’s one thing you can do right now?
  • 2 Minute tasks — Are there any 2 minute tasks.
  • Block out time — 15 minute blocks, 30 minutes blocks, 1 hour blocks, Block out time to work and complete a specific task.
  • Understand the size — Understand some projects, responsibilities and assignments you can’t do all at once.
  • Use the pain of failure to motivate you.
  • Take advantage of times when you’re on — momentum and motivation spurts.
  • Put yourself in a position to start — Put your gym shoes on, open the book, open the word document, pick up the phone, attend the seminar, take the first step. Simply put yourself in a position to allow progress.
  • Begin with the end in mind — Have you visioned what your life will be like once the task is complete? The relief, the sense of accomplishment, personal achievement or the good it will do for others.
  • Apply the 1 3 5 List Strategy — This is a cool little strategy for the out of control to-do list. Each task, project or mission; Obligate 1 big task, 3 medium and 5 small tasks. The trick is don’t add to the list.
  • Have solid deadlines and stick to them.
  • Write a done Journal — A done journal is something you can look back on for motivation and to see how far you’ve come. List everything you complete or achieve. I did this when I started to research and learn strategies on how on make money on the internet. Looking back there were things that had me stumped for days yet now I can complete with ease. Its easy to brush aside past accomplishments. There is an amazing power in being able to track back and view a progress guide to truly see how far you’ve come.
  • Stop adding tasks to the to-do list.
  • Build Momentum — Momentum solves 80% of your problems. There is an awesome book I would recommend By Darren Hardy called the compound effect can really help you jump start towards success.
  • Reward yourself after completing tasks and projects — When you accomplish something it’s important to embrace that feeling as at the end of the day that’s the main thing.
  • Stop being perfect.
  • Commit to Daily progress — This is the mantra I began practicing around a year ago. Absolutely the easiest way to beat procrastination. Every day I am bodily able, regardless of the size or complexity of task I do something that will place me one step closer to completing the project I am working on.
  • Rewrite your goals/ your why.
  • Ask for help.
  • Eliminate distractions — Easier said than done… Put your phone in another room, close the door, turn of the radio, TV, leave the house. HINT: Let your family know so you are on the same page not just being rude. If it’s important to you they will understand.
  • Focus zone — This is a strategy I have been working on recently. It is in relation to laser focus on the task at hand. This means clearing EVERYTHING not required to complete the task. Totally clear the desk, remove all non-essentials — extra pens, paper, books, calculator, notebook, keys, phones. You want to develop the focus zone. It’s the next step up from Eliminate distractions — Your working with a blank canvas now (Only have in front of you the specific tools required to complete the task at hand).
  • Just do it — The famous Nike slogan just do it, Just start!

Hope this helps :)

Like very much, but had a slight concern about this one. Begin with the end in mind.

Clarence

Thanks for the comment Clarence, I'd like to attempt to explain as this is one I use quite often haha :)

Lets take some less desirable task (For example cleaning the toilet) This is not something get to get motivated about however thinking about that squeaky clean toilet might get you through.
Focusing on the end result - The end goal or outcome.

It will, its a direct and very motivational post! Thank you, Clinton!
