The definition of Persevere is to continue on a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success.

This phrase came up in the TV show The Outlaw Josey Wales.

The Outlaw Josey Wales is a 1976 Western movie set at the end of the American Civil War, based on the novel Gone to Texas by Forest Carter.
