First Certification Badge !

Let's Get This Baby Started!

I am excited to announce my completion of certification level 1 ! After joining WA in July 2019 I took a bit of a hiatus because well, life got in the way. I knew I would be picking up where I left of so canceling my Premium membership was definitely not an option for me.

Upward And Onward
Earning my Certification level 1 badge represents my first big baby step! I believe, as the saying goes ... you can't eat an elephant all at once. Setting small achievable goals builds a momentum which can be unstoppable!

The Hurt Is Real

I work in mental health with people who are acutely ill. People from all walks of life. People like you and I. Some of my clients have been high achievers the majority of their lives, but after a severe crisis such as multiple losses, financial, relationship, or health issues have given up hope. Many have declined in their daily functioning including self care.

From CEO to not having the motivation to take a shower. This is where many patients are unbelievably building up from.

I always try to meet people where they are at now. In this moment. Forget about where they were when they were functioning at their optimal capacity. We start with BABY STEPS. In the same way as earning a badge in Certification Level 1 here at Wealthy Affiliate. One step at a time. Some may still be in the crawling stages but there is no shame in that.

The stigma and especially self stigma of mental illness leave many people feeling like it is their fault. That they must be just lazy or unmotivated. They are their own worst critic and consider their illness to be a character flaw. I ask them... "If you had a physical illness or injury such as Diabetes or a broken leg, would you be so hard on yourself?" Of course not!.

It's Shower Time
So start where you are. Don't compare yourself to others. Only to the progress you are making. It's not about perfection but progress. Others have not experienced your life. If having a shower is your goal for the day, its YOUR goal. Break it down into manageable steps. Gather your towel, robe, products, have everything set up. Try to imagine how good the warm cascading drops of water will feel. The wonderful scents. Push yourself to go if you don't feel like it. count 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 GO! Just like Nike says ..." Just Do It". Most importantly think about how wonderful you will feel after instead of the process involved. There you have it. WA will be the cleanest online community ever - expert washers ! All thanks to my blog. I'm being facetious of course.

The Take Away For Today Is:

- Allow yourself the grace to start where you are (its OK - really!)

-Baby steps. Bit by bit, one day at a time one moment at a time, if that feels too overwhelming. You got this!

- imagine your progress a month from now, Three months from now. In a year! The time will pass anyway. Trust the process, and yourself. You wouldn't be here on WA if you didn't have the drive to improve your life and the lives of others!

Lastly, an analogy which I have found extremely helpful. Imagine a train...it take a tremendous amount of force to get that train rolling down the track. Once it on its way it builds an incredible momentum and will not stop until it arrives to its destination! Take that journey, the train is leaving the station with or without you. You have the ticket to an incredible destination.
