The Power of Conviction

We are all controlled by our beliefs and convictions whether we are aware of it or not.

These convictions determine the nature of our thinking, which in turn cause the actions we take.

As we make it a point to move forward in our mind, it unfolds the power of thought that develops hidden possibilities. I find the quote below from Sophia Loren uplifting when I have wobbly moments.

What strategy do you employ that makes you TICK?!

Good post Chuka.

Thank you Roger.

No problem, Chuka.

I always saw Sophia Loren as a classy women - this just confirmed my belief.

To answer your question, for me, prayer is first and foremost; connecting to something/someone greater than myself. After that, being diligent with developing my mind. Over the years, I've read quite a number of PMA books (Positive Mental Attitude), listened to videos, webinars and attended countless training. I may not agree with everything I've ever heard or read, but I can glean from it, whatever pertains to my positive development.

Steve Harvey mentioned a book that he read recently, "Essentials". After reading the book, he said that he stopped doing ANYTHING that was not essential to his success, happiness, etc. In other words, getting rid of the distractions. I think I'll be purchasing that book in the near future!

Thanks for opening this great dialogue Chuka!

Hi Veronica, I appreciate your your candid contributions and dialogue throughout this post. What you just mentioned is what has given you the foundation to seek additional ways of developing. The more we engage our minds and learn, the more we are able to express and live out those things that make us tick.

Thank you so much for your encouragement :)

I really do have a deep desire to work at home, online. To be financially independent. I want to be able to express my creativity and to make a positive difference. That's what keeps me going.

This is fantastic Myra and I can even feel the passion in the words you write. That is the power of conviction!

Thanks Chuka, it all boils down to you have to believe in yourself! I think that if you don't have that inner conviction, you are not going to be able to convince other people.

That's a powerful statement Anne! I don't think I ever thought of my convictions - or lack thereof - in this manner before. I'll definitely keep this in mind.

You are right Anne. That self belief or lack of, unfortunately starts at a very early age of our formation. Then schools and other external influences reinforce them

Hi Veronica, we are all work in progress. Personal development has no finish line. the important thing is to keep moving forward.

I believe that if I put my mind to it, I know that I can accomplish anything.

You are absolutely right Roopesh. We know what to do all the time, but what we do some of the time is another matter.

Everything on this earth is temporary. Most of the time we take ourselves and the things of this world to serious. That mindset makes us afraid to try new things for fear of failure. Just step out. Be fearless. The worst that can happen is "you fail". But failure is a great teacher, if you don't give up. My advice is: When you fall, look around and see what made you fall and correct it. Then you can get back up dust yourself off and start all over again. Never give up. If you never give up, then failure becomes a stepping stone to greater things.

Thank you my friend, beautiful insights. I always see 'failure' as feedback and as you said Jean, not giving up is the key that will unlock that door. I appreciate your feedback.

In the past, the issue I've had when falling down, I've stayed on the ground too long! Making an assessment is needed, but that shouldn't turn into a career, lol.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jean!

I agree. A quick assessment and a quick fix if possible. If a fix isn't possible; just get up and move on. Thanks.

I guess for me the belief that anything is possible through hard work keeps me positive. And never giving up even when I really feel like it.
Erica

I raise my glass to that Erica. It also comes down to what the guys are saying below; self belief, tuning negative people out in order to stay focused, staying with one's gut feeling. Love it! :)

Great post, I don't focus on negative things in my life, and I belief in myself.

Great strategy Anthony. Without self belief, I can't imagine how challenging life will be.

The ability to tune out certain people and their negativity works for me.

I am with you there Brad. They are aplenty out there.

I rely on gut feeling, if it feels right I run with it and try not to let people's opinions sway me.

Thant's a great place to be Antonio. You would not believe how many people in our life travels who sway like a pendulum.
