Never EVER Give Up!

If you have been struggling trying to figure out what you should be doing to follow your passion, the biggest strongest advice I can give you is the following:

1. Your Purpose: Find out what actually inspires you to do what YOU do, every single day! Is it gardening? Is it making money? Is it helping others? Is it your deep rooted love of all things Star Trek? Whatever it is, whatever spurs you on to get your butt out of bed every single day and make a difference to not only yours, but the lives around you, DO IT and become the expert.
   
2. Your Value: Once you have that purpose, OWN IT! What I mean by that is, if you are super passionate about the fact that you sell vehicles. There's only one you, in the whole world. People buy vehicles every single day and they typically purchase from those they trust AND know their stuff. It's not just a simple case of "here's my price, buy this" anymore. Everyone is tired of it, they want that extra added VALUE. YOU are a part of that entire purchasing decision at the end of the day and if you provide sub-par service, you'll be forgotten the next time they walk in or call your dealership! It's even more so important online. There are BILLIONS of us, offering very similar services. If I don't put any value into this post today, it's gone tomorrow. No-one shares it, no-one even comments and they simply move on to the next person, who may have even said the exact same thing as I have, yet THEY earned the business and the opportunity is gone. If you provide your own unique value, that enhances the experience they recieve, whatever you are selling is now almost a formality of just doing the paperwork, rather than a fight to convince someone to part with their money.
3. Never EVER Give Up: Yeah, I realise that's the title of the blog post and yet it's number 3 on the list. There's a reason for that too. You see, many of us find our passion and discover the value that they have had hidden all along, yet we slip along into the "I can't do this" attitude and second guess themselves. I've also fallen victim to this, many many MANY times. What I didn't realise is that when you get to the point where you just stand up one day and say "oaky, ENOUGH!" and simply realise that YES, you CAN do this, you ARE going to succeed and you are never EVER going to give up again, it'll spur you on to continue your journey. For anyone reading this right now, be aware that you are reading this from a 40 year old guy with no formal education, that moved to Canda when he was 24, has 1 failed marriage, 1 successful marriage (albeit a crazy wife - I know you are reading this Katie and you know I love you anyway lol), 4 children from the ages of 2 to 15, a fake prostetic left eye and my right eye has a bulging cornea that I have to wear a hard contact lens in every single day to be able to focus on even the simplest of things. I have had multiple jobs. Some great, some not so much. Multiple managers, again, sae thing, some inspired me, others I still resent for the way I was treated. Yet, here I am, right now, today, typing this post on a laptop that I had won for helping the most amount of clients that particular month in 2011, I am smelling the supper that my wife Katie is cooking in the kitchen and I hear the kids playing in the living room, picking up the train tracks that they had spilled out. Those past experiences were tough, yet right now, there is a one-eyed, partially sighted guy on this side of the screen, writing this and telling you that it IS possible to get OUT of that space you may or may not be in. Find it, believe it and then never EVER let go of how it makes you feel. Get inspired and follow whatever dream you possibly have and then, give everything you have to turn that dream into a reality.
4. Make Small Short Term Goals: Goals can be as big or as simple as you choose. You don't need to make super fancy complicated or out of the ballpark goals straight away (though those are also equally as important), because while you work on the smaller goals, you open up new opportunities for the bigger goals to be achieved. Think of your goals as playing a video game. I'll pick on Skyrim as an example: You suddenly decide that you want to go slay that dragon on top of the mountain, except, to get there, you have to actually climb that mountain that is filled with all kinds of beasts and monsters, wanting to take you out. Do you go charging in and run up the mountain and just dominate that mission or do you go up strategically and take out all those monsters first so you can simply walk down quietly once the dragon is gone? It's personal preference which direction you take, though the second option always provides a little more security and peace of mind that you have taken on all those tasks beforehand and the payoff was the end goal and NOW you can relax until you decide to tackle a new mission.
5. Keep Focused - You Got This: This is the biggest advice I can give. You can do this! If you know your purpose, if you can share YOUR value are committed to never backing up or giving up on your goals and can stay focused on this... you WILL succeed! I'll say it again. You Got This! If you don't, never be afraid to ask for help. We are always learning and evolving every single second of our lives and there is someone out there right now with the answers that you are looking for. Find those people, follow them. Pick their brains. Ask advice and share value WITH them. It will keep you motivated and on track so you NEVER give up. It'll also keep you on track and push you to where you want to be in your life when you can see the success of those that surround you.
