The Advantages of Building Blocks for Kids.
Most early Educators believe that there should be an entire set of Building blocks in every classroom. If kids are given plenty of space and time to build invented or familiar structures and designs. There are many advantages to Building blocks which will be listed in this Article, most people don’t realize just how important this old yet important tool is in the development of kids.
Improve Problem Solving Skills.
- Blocks can give your child a great Platform to develop Problem solving and reasoning skills over time. This can be done either deliberate where children consciously try to deliver or create a solution for example: I want to build a house, So how do I do this? or a natural consequence of play as they learn what works and what doesn’t work for example: Stacking the blocks to go higher and higher. What can I use?
Children’s Imagination.
- Children can either create something themselves that they really want to see built or they can share a friend’s vision and help create something they’ve never seen before. Through Building blocks children are free to let their Imagination run free and come up with something Amazing or something very odd looking, but what might look odd to Adults is an Amazing work of art to the child that built it. Encouraging this will only fuel the child’s creativity and push him or her to build something even better next time. This happiness will boost confidence and in turn help the child come up with an even better structure than before.
Self Expression.
- Kids express themselves through playing, creating and discovering. This form of communicating is very important in bilingual or non-verbal children. Building blocks can offer great many ways for kids to express themselves and to demonstrate, across languages what they are learning.
Basic Math Skills.
- Because of the different shapes, sizes and colors blocks can offer kids opportunities to practice and develop Math skills. This includes measurements, numbers, symmetries, estimation and balance. If they can compare shapes and sizes or providing measurements and creating patterns play and exploration can be extended. By encouraging this and allowing it to expand the child is helped to develop their mathematical thinking and a child’s math knowledge will predict later academic achievements better than early reading and attention skills. Maths will be part of your child’s everyday life so it is very important to nurture this from a young age.
Early Childhood Physical Development.
- Building blocks develops spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination as kids reach for and lift the blocks which strengthens their hands, fingers and arms. Kids who are in early childhood are physically growing at a fast pace. You can have fun with your child by asking them to take their left hand and to reach over their head and touch their right ear. They can’t do this because their body proportions are such that they are still built much like an infant with a large head and short appendages. Once your child reaches 5 years of age their arms will have stretched and their head is smaller in proportion to their body. They will be able to do this task easier because of these physical changes.
Improve Creativity Skills.
- Blocks are loose parts so children can combine or recombine the blocks differently every time they play with them. Parents can combine and add alternative resources like dough, paint or pencils to extend further creativity. There are really no limits to what you can combine Building blocks with but no matter what you choose your child will love it. the more combinations are added the more room and freedom there is to create something new and exciting.
Boost Self-esteem.
- Kids can take risks with their Building blocks which will help them to discover that they have independent ideas which can be displayed for all to see. Children will experience a sense of achievement by creating or developing something that is new and unique. My kids cannot wait to show me what they have created and are filled with happiness and self confidence when I approve their masterpiece.
Support from an Adult.
While observing Block playing Parents can support their child by identifying and supporting the characteristics of Effective Learning. There are Questions that you can ask like:
- Does the child have their own ideas and is he or she following it? Is he or she choosing and exploring their own way of doing things?
- Is the child willing and able to take risks in their block playing and does the child keep trying if things don’t work out?
- Is the child involved in what he or she is doing and is he or she concentrating on what they’re doing?
- Is the child enjoying the Building blocks, is the child enjoying achieving what he or she set out to do?
Every child should have a set of Building Blocks.
Giving your child the gift of Building blocks will be an Amazing investment on your part. Kids have been playing with Building blocks even before the Internet started and I am convinced a lot of Building and Construction Engineers started out with their own set. Building blocks are much easier to come by lately, this link will take you to a store that sells Building Blocks: Link
You won’t regret buying Building blocks for your Child’s development because ultimately we want the best for our kids.
Thank you for your time and I hope you found this Article informative and a good read.

This is one of the first set of educational toys that I bought for all my children.
From my research prior to when I initially purchased, educational toys such as Lego or building blocks, plays a large factor in building self esteem and promoting children to think and show their thought process and creativity.
It was so amazing to see my children playing for hours on end with these educational toys. Not to imagine the different ways, shape and ideas if their outcome!
I can attribute that buying these educational products will indeed foster and improve children's self-belief, esteem and confidence.
Children love these products as they provide engagement, fun as well as learning
Is this your niche?
No, its just 1 of the products that I sell for a program. Will it be better to rather call it a product review or an article. Which will be best? Because I want to choose 10 of my products to write these type of articles/reviews. But not sure if I should write reviews or articles
You can write reviews but you also need to mention the disadvantages of using the product as well
Thank you so much for sharing this post
and this is such an informative and a
real educational message to all of us
whether you have children or not.
That is why Lego is one of the most
searched gift for the children no
matter what age is the child.
Thank you ever so much again, Christo.
God bless you.
