Random thoughts on site comments

This week I moved deeper into site comments and a couple things disturbed me . Noone here can do anything here but I was thinking that it is something I wish could be a little ... tweaked and was inspired to share my thoughts..

I recently requested over a 100 comments spread out over 20 articles spaced over the next 14 days ... that request is a representation of how serious I am about making this work.

I bought credits but I also earned credits .... I’m weird and I like earning credits through site comments since I see so much unique and interesting things there . Sometimes I even buy things through links I find . I just consider it a luxury at this point as every hour counts .... still though as I enter chill and browse some nights I tend to go there to do my browsing and grab a pile of credits while I’m am at it .

The first incident occurred when I received feedback instead of a comment on a comment request ... worse the feed back was pretty awful in its own right ....as in I think the person leaving the feedback didn’t even quite grasp that concept .

I have done site feedback and received positive and negative but honestly never something so irrelevant so I was in a bit of a pickle . Honestly if it was relevant site feedback I would have just ignored it but as I looked at it and seen my time and investment reflected back as that I just couldn’t edit and approve .

I looked and looked for a way to send that person a pm to let them know to change it to a comment but there is no way . So I disapproved it than wondering what I did I ran some searches here .

Well I just contributed to WA 3 strikes and your out rule . It seems a bit unfair , I did not want to waste my credits but I also didn’t want that thing in my site .... neither of us had a chance to communicate a mutually agreeable option.

Than later the same day I had someone come through site comments but than leave me a comment through my website ( not earning credit) than left me another comment here explaining they was unsure how to do it .

I would have loved the option to reach out and explain .... again we can not find the person here that left a comment . I fixed that though by editing the comment here , merged them the best I could and approved here trashing the actual site comment.

I was still mulling this over as I really wanted to reach out to that person and explain and had their name and email through their comment but was hesitating to use info in that way when a duplicate comment from that same person came through site comments on the exact same article ...!?!??

I couldn’t approve that , I couldn’t edit and just have another random comment from the same person on the same article, I have no clue how it came over twice and after what I learned earlier I did not want to give 1 of 3 strikes to this person ( who by this point I actually liked , the comments reflecting a genuine mutual love for our subject matter)

In desperation I posted on live chat for a way out of this mess and refreshed for what felt like a lifetime ( I was stressed lol ) than I got my answer so I approved it here , deleted it on the back end and kissed either a dollar or 30 minutes if my time good bye depending on how you look at it.

Yes if you have not guessed yet this is all to say I really really really want a way to contact people leaving comments through site comments .

I do not want to be the unfair mean person costing people their ability to earn comments and I do not want to just randomly kiss my credits good bye.

WA needs a suggestion box :-/

Now I feel better ( it’s been messing with my head all day ) , thank you for listening .

I had the same thing happen to me recently, got feedback instead of a comment and couldn't find any way to contact the person. So I ended up disapproving the comment with an explanation. I hated doing it since I usually PM the person to let them know it's not something I could approve.

I don't feel good disapproving a comment and only do it when I can't edit it. But this is our business and we do what we have to. Just like I tell my kids, learn to do something the right way or there are consequences. There are plenty of posts and training on leaving good comments and knowing the difference between them and feedback.

I may seem a little hard-nosed about this, but I pay for a lot of comments when I'm working a lot and expect to get a usable ones.

That’s kind of why I had to disapprove it, I sunk a good chunk of cash and and time into it those credits and can not havevsimething completely unusable .

The second one I’m not even sure was that persons fault ( it seemed to be a weird glitch ) so I just had eat it because otherwise it wouldn’t have been fair to the other person.

Asking for site comments is kind of like asking for Likes on Facebook. They are not always genuine but an attempt to pay forward to help a fellow WA member get some traction for traffic.

My experience is I try to help but many times I don't really have the knowledge or interest in the niche I am trying to comment. So it becomes a struggle to leave a comment that is helpful.

The best comments, in my opinion, will be the ones that come naturally once your site is getting consistent traffic.

I'm guilty of giving feedback instead of comments and have been banned from the comments area. I found a way around having to deal with this and it has helped me tremendously. Please check out this thread, this is a lot better: This has helped me out in the past, best of luck to you.

Cheers,

Paul

It’s great they at least have that thread so people can still get comments. I like site feedback because I know they are going to be a certain length and because it seems more organized than the thread . I just wish they had a option so I didn’t don’t hsve a I basically waste credits it contribute to someone getting banned from the area .

This is a recurring subject, there are multiple complaints like you have here on WA, most people learn the hard way, they get banned from the comment area when too many comments are disapproved because they gave feedback instead of a comment.
And as long as there keep coming new members here, this will stay the same. The difference between comments and feedback should be explained in an early lesson in the course. Or at least in a popup, before people can place one.

I really wish they would at least give us the option of reaching out to the i other persons b and giving them a chance to fix it .

I hope that they start using the WA Nick names too, they use now the Gravatar

Hi!

That sounds like a good idea, perhaps you should contact Kyle or Carson about it?

Perhaps , I kind of get the idea they get way too many comments a day as it is to deal with them all . I want a suggestion thread lol the best ideas get upvoted so it saves time but we get the features we really do need .

Yeah you right, hopefully, your idea get upvoted!
