A new promise to myself
Yesterday I created a blog post about my new lofty goals. These are long term goals but in order to achieve them I need to have several short term goals that lead up to those larger goals. These are called milestones.
Today I am mostly going to be working at my day job but tonight I'm going to create a new blog post for my website. In order to reach my milestone this week I need two more blog posts and one of them must be today and the other tomorrow as I will be out of town without internet access for the weekend.
In any event, the new promise to myself is to work to stay motivated. Sometimes it is hard to work my 8 - 10 hours per day and then help in the WA community on top of creating content for my website. But I will continue.
That is all for today.

Hey Christian,
You just have to set a schedule for yourself and business. Try to keep it realistic given your other responsibilities. I say shoot for 1-2 new articles for your site every week. That tends to be manageable for most people.
Thanks, Eddy. I have done two already and want to get another done tonight and at least started on another tomorrow. I have momentum and enthusiasm. I might as well leverage it. :)
Here's what I would recommend. Google tends to look at consistency. So let's say you decide that you're going to write and post 3 articles this week. But next week you don't write anything, it actually hurts you and makes you lose momentum in Google's eyes. They want to rank sites that they perceive as being active and adding content regularly.
So what I would recommend is saving some of those articles and posting one or two of them in upcoming weeks. I literally have a stash of articles that I post like this. So times I don't feel inspired, I always have new content ready. And I take advantage of the days and week where I am super inspired to write. So that might be a way to tackle this.
You just don't want to set yourself up for a writing schedule that isn't consistent and impossible to maintain. Make sense?
Thanks for the input. Does timing matter? Should I shoot for posting one on Monday and one on Thursday or something along those lines? Right now my website is an infant so I figured it did not much matter but maybe it does.
Also, I was trying to get my publishing frequency to 100%. Should I ignore that or will that come organically if I just post twice per week? If I can squeeze 3 per week is that bad or good?
Don't over think or complicate it.
You can post whatever day you want. Stick to a posting schedule you know you can sustain. Everyone is all gun ho at first but as the months wear on folks that were posting every day all of sudden post once a month. So again shoot for something you know you'll be able to maintain for months and years to come. If you think you have enough content ideas to do 3 per week, by all means do it. But if you think 1-2 is more realistic when you think about your time limits, the topic, etc. then go with that. You can adjust accordingly. Some weeks you may want to post more and that's fine. But try to make sure you're posting at least 1 article per week at the very least. Anything more than that is fine.
Yes, it is difficult to do both. Keep it up, and it will pay off later. All the best to you!

Hi Christian, I agree that is is very challenging to work your usual paying job(s) plus manage your family and household responsibilities -plus help around the WA community AND work on your own website. I sleep little these days, but the excitement of it all keeps me motivated. And the cool stuff to learn from WA and the community here keeps me inspired. Keep it up!
