Social Networking- Using it For Its Original Purpose Is Still The Best Method

Social media is such a hotbed for marketing. Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest are especially powerful tools to use to get your website recognized. The ease of getting your message out there is defnitely there.

Take Facebook, for example. Once I go to my personal page, it only takes a minute before I'm inundated with ads that pop up in my timeline as I scroll down. All I have to do is click on one, give them my email, and I'm on somebody else's email list. It's that simple.

That's all fine and dandy. I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the amount of those same marketers that never establish a relationship with me after I submit my information. Sure, I'm often just entering that information to get the free info they are offering in exchange for my information, but I would like to hear more from them. Many of them just go straight in for the sales pitch afterword.

No warning. No countdown. They just rip off the bandaid.

Here's a novel idea: what if they used social media for its original purpose and actually be social. What if they actually interacted with me? What if they got some dialogue startted?

If you want to get more than just views, you need to interact with your viewers on social media. It's more than just a like. It's more than just a retweet or repin.

It's a relationship. You want them coming back for more because you provided them with added value. You want them seeking you out because you help them through your social media content. More than that, you want them trusting you because you've established a relationship with them.

So, the next time you're on social media, take the time to build a relationship with your viewers. Use social media effectively and be social. Over time, you'll see a better return on your time investment.
