My journey to wealth creation began when I first watched 'The Secret' in 2008. Since then, I have met a few people who have used its positive message to overcome life's challenges. For my part, after watching 'The Secret' I got excited about making life changes and acquiring wealth! I did some work with Wallace Wattles’ 'The Science of Getting Rich' and for about three months I used affirmations and acted like I had an abundance of money, but nothing drastically changed. In retrospect, there was something missing.

The missing piece: Action.

ACTION is the foundational key to success.

As the messages in 'The Secret' faded and my life did not bring 'unexpected' fortunes, I returned to accepting my part in the status quo. But, there remained a persistent gnawing thought: "this is not your life…this is not who you truly are." It was a whisper in the recesses of my mind that haunted me.

When I talk to people about getting rich, I usually get a negative response like, 'money won't make you happy'; or an aspiration-crushing response like, 'it's hard to make money' or 'you'll never be rich if you don't win the lottery'.

To those who proclaim the first I say, happiness can be had with or without money. Happiness truly is a state of mind. I know that with absolute certainty. You can choose happiness regardless of what is happening in your life. Money is about comfort - plain and simple. Financial health gives you the comfort of knowing that you can travel if you wish, you can educate your children or grandchildren if you wish, you can learn new skills and discover new talents if you wish, you can pay your bills easily, fix your car, buy a new coat or shoes when you need them without looking at the price tag or waiting for your next paycheque. Happiness is not for sale at any price; happiness is a state of mind. But, if you deeply long for something that you can not have because you can not afford it, then money is a missing component in your life. If you do not have enough of the present medium of exchange to gain the experiences you dream of - be they music or dance lessons, or a trip to the Orient, or more children, or a better life for the children or grandchildren you already have - then I'm not sure how you can deny the necessity and importance of having more money as a way of having a more expanded life experience.

Furthermore, since "time is money" if you spend 8 to 12 hours per day or more, 5 or more days per week earning money on the J-O-B, then TIME is another component on which you are probably coming up short! Additionally, if your money earning hours are structured as in 9-5 or 1-9, then you simply are not free to take music or yoga lessons or go on vacation whenever you wish to do so! These constraints may mean less optional personal time and/or less optimal family time.

I am not going to scoff at anyone's lottery winning dream. We all know that people do win the lottery and I always say, if you don't believe you will win, then why the heck do you buy a ticket?! Keep that dream alive. And acknowledge this: buying lottery is not what is meant by ACTION is the foundational key to success! Action is step-by-step learning, growing, and changing your mental and physical behaviour in order to lead to successful outcomes. That and only THAT is ACTION! It IS easy to make money IF you are willing to take action to learn how to make money.

In today's ever expanding technologically-based global market, internet marketing (selling) is an effective way of making money and it has literally changed the lives of thousands of people. Although you may not think of it this way, if you are working for someone else right now you sell your time and skills to your employer. Making money is, and has always been, accomplished by selling. People buy things and people choose to buy them from a specific store or person for specific reasons. There is no secret here. You do the same thing every time you shop. Internet marketing means learning about something that people buy and learning how to sell it to them. Once you discover a market and learn how to make people want to buy the product or products from you, then you will be on the way to earning money on your time, during hours that suit you. And as you learn, grow, and take action, you will generate more and more success (a.k.a. money) until you have a successful online business that generates a comfortable income for you and keeps you on your time.

Although I don't know who said it, I leave you with a favourite quote: "Success is not a lottery that only the lucky win. It is the result of consistent hard work, decisiveness, and self-discipline."
