The freedom to do anything

I`ve notice that a lot of people start off at a full clip but eventually, SOMETHING happens. Other obligations just seem to take precedence over blogging and keyword research. I won`t lie- I`ve been there myself-even in the short 2 months I`ve been involved here at WA, I have caught myself procrastinating and doing other far less important things.

Based on insight from my own flaws, I think that the real issue is taking on the entrepreneurs mindset and not waiting to be told what to be done. I think I understand why the certification courses and bootcamp are designed they way that they are- to ween us off of waiting to be told what to do and giving us the tools to manage on our own.

So I think that`s what happens. Your bosses menial tasks are more important to you than your business. Drinking with your friends is more important than doing today's blog post. To succeed at this and keep succeeding, you have to "let go" and realize that this is just as important and real as anything else that you take on in your life.

Maybe you tell yourself everyday that this will all work out, but does it really sink in? What teachings have you yet to unlearn that keep you from taking this as seriously as you should? Find what that is, and find a way to see through the deception. Once you can do this, you will naturally throw a ton of energy into this!

Very well said

very well said I agree on the direction you are going with this, I just have one thing to say to each and everyone that signs up with Wealthy Affiliate COMPLETE all of the training courses in both Certification and Bootcamp they both work together to teach you the right ways to go about creating and branding yourself in the ever growing web we all live in now. So stop all the BS and study please. I did it and it is paying off for me now.
Good Luck
Tommy

Very good point Tommy. I think I`ll actually turn that into a blog post here or at my site. Even if you don`t really know what you're doing, ACT ACT ACT! It`s the quickest way to learn and progress.

Indeed-theory is that 30 days to form a habit, that is in *most* cases. My daughter was coming off a deep depression this summer-she spent it at my former in-laws cottage, working at a local grocery and getting Algebra tutoring. 10 weeks of this. Came home smiling, hair cut, looking great and a nice total paycheck :) There remain only 2 days till her Senior year start up-and keep up the good run she had going. So sometimes a lot more than a month. Keep smilin' :)

If we are not used to work on our own it can take time to build the habit
And build up the discipline to be our own boss.
But it is also much more rewarding in the long run.
It usually takes about 30 days to develop a new habit.
The power of the habits is that we do things almost without thinking.
Online success could be compared to driving
Once you are familiar with all the mechanisms, and know
What to do you will do it on autopilot without having to think in a way
That brings to much effort!

I know right! It`s all about having the vision to see things through that far. It is possible, and I can see myself getting closer every day!

So right Choppydo and again, for peace of mind and for forging ahead, I can't help but see the wisdom of compromise for a win-win situation here. I mean there may be other things out there that may be worth the while investigating, but I do agree that other commitments will tend to overshadow 'the' commitment . What is really bugging me right now is the flood of emails I'm getting from practically everywhere inviting me to look at tons of videos and join free sign ups. Is everyone else getting tons of emails like this or am I just the lone target here? Cheers everyone!

That`s probably because you`re on a bunch of lists. If they look like scams(most likely), your better off putting them on the block list and focusing on your website.

Depending on what mail server you use, you can set up filters for the ones you don't want to get. On gmail they have Primary, Social and Promotions now. If it's not in the first two, I *might* check the Promos. That changed knocked about 5000 unread/old emails off my total...MUCH better!

I took myself off of every IM list I was on. FOCUS is where it's at! Old Chinese proverb: Man who chases two hares will capture neither...

I have a bad habit of inventing things to do when I should be doing something else. I usually know when something important needs to be done to one of my websites because suddenly I find myself mopping the floor or really needing to go for a run. I find that if I schedule breaks and allow myself to slide every once in a while I can avoid complete burnout. Sometimes if you push too hard through those 'procrastination moments', you just get fed up.

Nice post.

I know what you mean. With this kind of work consistency is better than overworking yourself so I think you have it right! Besides, I don`t think anyone goes in to this looking to work the same hours they were before.

I think it's important to establish some sort of routine and stick to it. And yeah, it can be so difficult to be disciplined and keep working on your website and stuff especially when there really aren't any consequences if you go a day or a week or month without doing anything.

I think my current motivation is how I get mistreated at my job. I know that I don't want to be working for someone for the rest of my life, especially not at where I work at, so the harder I work now at my online business, the sooner I'll get out of my current situation. I know I'd much rather be doing my thing online than dealing with those jerks for the rest of my life lol.

Good stuff. You`ll always be at the mercy of the job world until you find your own way to break free. This is as good as any.

AMEN to that!

Focus is so important. I used to use lists, handwritten. Now I just get up and pretend I have a job to go to. Put in my hours. I realize now that I don't have much of a social life anymore, but it is a small price to pay for the success I know will come!

Who`s pretending? This is a job, the best kind of job where things just get better as you go.

Yes all very true Chip, great observation.

Chip, that is a lot of wisdom coming from such a young mind! Very good post!

Great wisdom Chip you're so right

Thanks guys! Basically what I`m trying to convey is that you have to change your mindset regarding IM first and your efforts will follow suit.
