Hiding your eMail from spambots

I was reluctant to put my email address on my webpage because I know from past experience that (spam)bots rove the internet looking for email addresses. Once they find one they sell them to spammers so you get inundated with not just hundreds but thousands of time consuming spam emails.

I did some research on Wordpress addon's and found a few that would cloak your email. This is the one that I down loaded called 'Cloak Front End Mail'. I was sceptical at first because it said that the add-on failed but when I checked it was in the add-on section of my Wordpress site. I activated it and every thing looked good, so I added [email] to my email address locaton on my webpage and it looks great.

The JavaScript [email] takes the email address you have setup in your profile and makes it readable to humans but makes it impossible for (spam)bots to harvest.

You be the judge and let me know what you think after trying it.

Yep, great workaround.

SPAM bots (and Search engines) are unable to read JavaScript so they won't be able to harvest email addresses that were cloaked with 'Cloak Front End Mail'
