I Left Wealthy Affiliate, Spent Money Elsewhere, Then Came Back — Is It Worth It in 2026?
Published on August 18, 2026
Published on Wealthy Affiliate — a platform for building real online businesses with modern training and AI.
I joined Wealthy Affiliate (WA) in 2020.
And honestly, the first time I logged in, I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff inside.
There were courses, tools and information everywhere, but WA wasn’t as easy to navigate back then as it is today. Choosing a niche was especially difficult, and you were largely left to figure it out for yourself.
I spent around eight months going round in circles:
What should I do?
Can this niche actually make money?
Is that one too competitive?
In the end, I still didn’t have an answer.
So I left WA.
After that, I joined another well-known affiliate marketing platform. It had plenty of ready-made products to promote, and I thought that would solve my niche problem.
It didn’t take long for another problem to appear:
I wouldn’t even buy most of the products myself.
If I didn’t believe in them, how was I supposed to recommend them to other people over the long term?
Later, I spent more money on SEO, content marketing and online business courses.
Then, one day, I realised something incredibly annoying:
A lot of the things I had paid to learn elsewhere were already inside WA.
That was one of the reasons I eventually came back to Wealthy Affiliate.
What Changed My Mind About Wealthy Affiliate?
I didn’t leave WA the first time because it was completely useless.
The real problem was this:
I had plenty of resources, but I didn’t know how to turn them into action.
And WA today isn’t quite the same platform I joined in 2020.
The overall experience and learning paths are much easier to understand now, and the training covers far more than affiliate marketing.
Today, you can learn about:
- WordPress and web hosting
- Search engine optimisation
- Affiliate marketing
- Artificial intelligence
- Social media marketing
- YouTube
- Content creation and other online business skills
That makes a big difference to me.
Back then, I looked at everything and thought:
“There’s so much here. What am I supposed to learn first?”
Now, I look at it differently:
“A lot of the skills I may need as I build my online business are already here when I need them.”
That is probably the biggest change in how I see WA.
So, Is Wealthy Affiliate Actually Worth It?

I think it is — but not for everyone.
If you want to build an online business and would rather learn about websites, SEO, affiliate marketing, AI, social media and content creation in one place, WA starts to make much more sense.
You don’t have to decide you need SEO today and go hunting for an SEO course.
Then decide you want to try YouTube tomorrow and find another platform.
Then start looking for somewhere else when you want to learn about AI, social media or websites.
For me, one of WA’s biggest advantages is that all of those things can remain within the same ecosystem as your business grows.
But it isn’t a get-rich-quick system.
And having lots of resources does not mean you will automatically succeed.
I proved that perfectly well the first time I joined:
You can have all the tools in the world and still spend eight months sitting there thinking about your niche.
They only become useful when you actually start using them.
Who Is Wealthy Affiliate Good For?
I think WA works particularly well for two types of people.
The first is someone who is just starting to build an online business and doesn’t want to piece together tools and learning resources from all over the internet.
You might need a website, SEO, content and affiliate marketing now, then later decide to explore AI or social media.
Having somewhere you can continue learning without starting from scratch every time can save a lot of time wondering where to go next.
The second is someone who has already started but is gradually expanding their skills.
You don’t need to learn everything inside WA at once.
In fact, I don’t think you should.
Learn what you need when you need it.
For me, that is a much better way to use the platform.
Who Probably Shouldn’t Join?
If you are looking for something that will give you a stable income within a few weeks, I wouldn’t recommend WA.
That simply isn’t what it is.
If you don’t want to learn or put anything into practice, and you are hoping to find a system where you press a few buttons and money appears, it probably isn’t for you either.
And if you already have an established website, your own hosting, SEO tools, AI tools, a social media workflow and all the learning resources you need, you may not need WA at all.
You have essentially already built your own ecosystem.
Adding another platform at that point may not make things any simpler.
My Final Verdict
The first time I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I spent eight months trying to choose a niche.
Then I left.
I tried another platform.
I paid for other courses.
I went the long way round.
And eventually, I came back.
So if someone asks me today:
“Is Wealthy Affiliate worth it?”
My answer is still yes.
But not because it makes building an online business easy.
It is because a lot of things that would otherwise be scattered across different tools, courses and platforms can be built up in one place over time.
That was the part I completely missed the first time around.
Back then, I kept thinking I needed to find a better answer.
Now, I’m much more interested in a different question:
Am I actually using what I already have?
If you are considering Wealthy Affiliate, I wouldn’t tell you to join simply because it worked for me.
Have a look at the training, tools and overall direction first and decide whether they are things you will genuinely use.
You don’t have to take my word for it.
See whether it actually fits you.
