Totally Confused by Webmaster Tools & Google Analytics
I absolutely do not get Webmaster Tools & Google Analytics. They make no sense. On the one hand, it looks like my WA site isn't indexed, yet, but it shows that almost half of the traffic (such as it is) is returning traffic. While my other site seems to be losing traffic. What the heck does that mean?
Nothing is explained in plain language. I find it incredibly confusing. It makes me mad!
I am not a dummy but I need an "Understanding Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools for Dummies".
There's no need for comments because I'm just venting. Seriously. I'll get over it. Thanks for "listening".

So true. I have to say just realizing how many others are confused is a big comfort! You are right...one step at a time.
I think its like learning any new area - you just build layer upon layer and things become clearer and clearer. Often until there is a strong foundation, a lot is sill confusing. Good luck to all of us who are at this stage lol :)
It can be confusing and frustrating I still struggle with certain aspects tackle one at at time , try see if this helps make it a bit easier..I have to say I still go over stuff. Beginner's Guide to Google Analytics

I would also recomend Jay's video trainings. There is several trainings on using Google Analytics and GWT. Afetr watching them it gives you a little bit more understanding however it's really advanced stuff if you want understand it totatly.
So don't worry, if you will follow just main metrics it will be enough for you for sure.

Venting and expressing your anger is VERY healthy - you can use your anger as a powerful motivator to find the tools that are available to help you break through the impasse. For example you can do a search using: "Understanding Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools," leaving out the reference to dummies to see what comes up. I'd be surprised if you didn't get some helpful information.
Venting isn't whining - you did the smart thing by posting your blog.

By the way, how do you add those WA trainings to your comments? Do you just paste in the URL? I have seen them now and really like how you can use them for others to use as references but just haven't done one myself yet...thx for any advice! ;-)
