I understand these may be small successes to many, but it takes a lot of co-ordination, baby distraction and communal child minding at my house for me to complete anything, especially something that is just for me like writing these articles.

Jo, great article, having young children in the house is a full time job, if you get help by anyone being grandparents, nanny its a bonus but when it is the child's father its the best as the children bond with the father as well as the mother. Thoroughly enjoyed reading your article.
Allot of dads do not spend much time with the kids they bring into the world. A dad needs to grow with the children. There are many things a child will teach the parents. I love to watch children grow and develop as they grow the parents also grow. Kids do not come with an owners Manual.
You are right about that Bill. Some days I wish my kids did have downloadable instructions ;)

Good article, Jo. I'm wondering - does the brain change happen in all fathers or only the stay-at-home dads? Or is it progressive depending on how much time the dad spends in hands-on parenting?
I'm not sure, but the study is trying to suggest that the time the dads spend with their babies is what is driving the maternal instinct evolution so it would only happen noticeably in stay at home dads.
