Quitting for WA Anniversary

Tomorrow will mark 6 weeks since I found and joined WA. I love it, I can't shut up about how fantastic it is to every poor soul I encounter and I have seriously burnt the candle at both ends to get a website up and try to learn all this new stuff.

Last night was the first time I've allowed myself a decent night's sleep in 6 weeks and instead of waking up energized I've woken up cloudy and dazed. I have about 500 emails since I went to bed and I feel quite guilty if I don't read each and every one even though I know this is cray cray crazy.

So I am quitting. I've had enough. I'm tired and I'm sick and my baby has a cold and so does my husband. You can't talk me out of it. I've decided.

I AM SWITCHING OFF THE COMPUTER UNTIL TOMORROW.

I know I'm not far enough into my training to warrant a day off, but my body and my mind are quite loudly insisting on it and I know from first hand experience what happens if you continue to ignore your body's polite requests.

So I'm not experienced enough to know if taking a day off will ruin my future chances of succeeding at this Internet marketing gig, but I guess I will know tomorrow :)

And yes, if I've been too obtuse about it, I WILL BE BACK tomorrow with some fresh energy and more positive attitude :D

As Clint told us "A man has got to know his limitations..." Well I'm no man but I'm learning about mine anyway.

Peace

Jo

Never feel guilty about taking time off. We all need to do this now and again. You are doing well :) Patti

I hope you enjoy your day off! We ALL need to take a break at times.

Hey Jo, I'm glad you're resting, you will be alright tomorrow. It's great that you're putting your all to your business. A good rest revives your brain so you can battle tomorrow. I've seen so many pass me by, but I always do what can daily. Don't beat yourself up you're doing great. Keep smiling.

Jo, good on you for having the day off that is not quitting at all. Have fun and enjoy the journey. You certainly don't need to be tied to the computer all the time. I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Susan

I know where you're coming from as I feel the same way. I'm taking the day off tomorrow before my body and mind forces me. :-)

Rest and all the best to you.

Hey Jo, yeah been there... when you come back, word of advice, don't feel obligated to answer every email.. stay in touch with some certain people and friends that you've made in here.. don't talk to anyone for a few days while you're learning and building your website... it's not selfish, and when you have a completed project then you can sit back and learn (still) and email away.
I remember having over nine hundred at one stage, and it took me one Friday night (sun down to sun up) to get below 100 and I was happy then... but as Shawn said it's addictive and there's some gold in some of those emails.
Hope this helps and rest well.

You said above, "So I'm not experienced enough to know if taking a day off will ruin my future chances of succeeding at this Internet marketing gig, but I guess I will know tomorrow."

Actually NOT taking a day off will ruin your future chances because working at it everyday for hours on end is extremely counterproductive. There is no need to rush because there are no deadlines to meet.

As someone who used to work in a fast-paced office environment within the video game design industry where meeting deadlines was paramount, it was mandatory that you take time off even a couple of times during the course of a day. It is a well known fact that if you work all the time without sufficient rest your brain will not be as creative and your immune system will weaken.

Being that you don't feel good proves that fact to be true...yet again.

So schedule some days off during the week for yourself and delete all of those emails...that's what I do. :)

I would take a couple of days off if I were you. The emails and WA will still be there when you are ready, and you'll likely be much more creative and productive once you're rested. Take it easy and enjoy!

Take your time!
I know this can be addictive, but you need to work at your own pace, and make it work with your family obligations. :)

I can tell you are driven, and that will help you but one day at a time :)

There's a old saying that goes: "Set peace of mind as your first goal and then build your life around that". (I only wish I would have learned that about 30 years ago) Ha ha!
