Doing great

My website is doing better than I thought in terms of SEO rankings. I got a 77 out of 100. I feel great. I know now I am on the right track. It is only a matter of time until the money starts rolling in (months). Now all I have to do is update my site and make a complete make over.

Do any of you know how to direct all traffic to mywebsite to a page that says I'm updating my site and to try again later?

What I am asking is. Imagine you have a site and suddenly you want to change it up a little and hide it from public view. I want to know how to redirect all trafiic from site to a work inn progress type of page telling people that my website is currently being updated or something like that.

Maybe you need to create a test site based on your hard drive, then you make all the changes you wish to this test site. Once you are done, now you copy paste the new site on the old one, I don´t see why your site has to be closed.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Make up a "Under Renovation" or "Closed for renovation" page or something that reflects what is going on. You could make it in MS Word or Publisher if you don't have an editor, then name the page index.html and post it to the root of your site, using FTP.
The page index.html is the very first page that a browser looks for when it hits a site. If you do this, then make sure you change the original index.html name to index.html.copy or something so you can change it back later.
See how you go.

Thanks. This is exactly what I wanted.

What you ask, i am not really sure. You never wish to make your site public by publishing it if you are not wanting it viewed by the online visitors. Unpublished it if that is you desire but the quicker you publish the faster you rank. Hope this help.
