How many ads, in your opinion, is acceptable for a homepage before it looks "spammy"?

How about ads on a post? Leading into and / or at the end of a post? A banner ad mi

Adsense does not allow more than 3 ads on a page and I think they know what they're talking about.

I would agree with that, although if you're using the 'summary' view for blog posts this may (depending on theme) just leave you with a stack of banner ads on the front page.

I was wondering what methods / techniques that you all use to create good, quality blog posts quickly? Any advice you have to share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sometimes I talk. I have Dragon naturally speaking. If I turn away from the screen and just talk like I'm having a conversation with someone, I get some interesting results. I'll have to do a lot of editing, but the bulk of the content is usually pretty good.

What is the tool that you're a big fan of?

I like this idea, of using speech-to-text software to "flood" the page with content and then edit and trim it up.

Good job DTenter!

I write, period. That's the way it's done. All these 'automated' type tools produce crap. Take a class on writing at a community college, learn research skills, there isn't an "easy button" for this. It's work. It's work you should love in order for it to be a success as well. If you hate writing, then blogging really isn't the business for you.

Hey Onmyownterms, I totally agree with you that the "automated" writing tools and content spinners will not produce quality content and your blog will suffer if you use them.

I mention methods / techniques because I use one in particular quite often that I am a big fan of. I pick a topic, then decide on my "main points", and I loosely outline the blog post before I go through and flesh out the post.

It's good to have different methods / techniques because sometimes its better to approach some topics differently, in my experience.
