How many blog posts, pages, articles throughout training?

I finished going through Wealthy Affiliate's 4 levels of the training last night. A number of times while going through training modules I would wonder; how many blog posts will I write through this training. I wondered; are there a certain number of posts where I should feel like I’m finally on the right path. I even searched a couple of times to see if anyone had written about it. Did I find a number? No, I didn't.

I found a number of posts talking about how many blog post you should write per week and talking about writing articles. But never anything detailing how much is done through the training.

Now that I’m through the training, I want to account for where I am and look forward a bit. I went through the training again just to see how many times I was told to write a post/page/article and compared that with where my site is. Here’s what I found:

Through the 4 training levels, you are told to write 6 pages on your blog plus 1 optional page. You are told to write 16 posts (2 of which should be product reviews), 2 WA blog posts, and 1 Street Articles article.

My website currently has a total of 6 pages and 15 posts. However since joining Wealthy Affiliate I only added 2 pages and 9 posts to my site. So, even though my site looks pretty close to what it should look like at the end of the training, I have not done as much work as I should have.

Confession time: I haven’t written any reviews yet. Though I've applied to several affiliate programs, none have accepted me. (I’m not sure why.) I haven’t written any articles for submission to Street Articles or any of the other article submission sites. Oh, and according to Google Analytics, none of my traffic is coming from organic search results yet.

Where to go from here? Well, I have several low hanging fruit keywords still to write about as well as some other ideas, so I probably have 20 or more posts that are just begging to be written. Since I run a service based business, I’m not too worried about getting affiliate approvals as long as I can sell my business services, but I need to work on getting affiliates. Articles, yeah I guess I need to write some but I don’t feel they’re critical at this point.

Based on what I've told you, what do you think I should be doing next? Go ahead, be as harsh as you want.

Just had a look at your site and it looks really nice. I notice that you've managed to get Amazon affiliated now. I'm surprised that you've struggles with the affiliate "overview companies", e.g. Commission Junction, Clickbank, Linkshare - from memory I had approval from these within seconds of applying. I have found that the actual advertising affiliates on these companies have been harder to get (although i was surprised to get "Not Approved" by Think Geek one day, only for them to approve me the next (I didn't reapply, I simply got the acceptance email a day after being not accepted). I was surprised to be accepted by Apple/iTunes very quickly too (one to consider if there are any appropriate apps available for your product / service niche. I wonder if your niche is so specialised that you've struggled to find appropriate advertising affiliates (I would imagine they would be quite conservative in your niche)

Do not write for street articles. It is no longer recommended even though it is still included in the training.

Any idea why it's not recommended any longer?

Google SEO changes do not hold the articles in as high esteem as they once did. If you want detailed information, Matt Cutts has a video explaining it on YouTube - I can try and dig it up for ya. Let me know.

Regarding the number of posts, there's no limit and I didn't find any affiliate program refusing my website as an affiliate (clickbank, commision junction, affilinet, Amazon, etc) due to a lack of posts. Some of them will perhaps bann you if you don't make any conversions or sales after several months, but that's all.

I think you need to get a little bit more content on your site because that's what companies(and Google) look for before accepting you as a "blogger". They want to know that you are keeping with it, not just looking to make money, but giving visitors and searchers great quality articles. Another reason why you want to provide more content is so that visitors will get to know you and trust you.

I hope this helps. Good luck on your endeavors.
