I need a good plugin that actually works. I tried a few but the options seem endless. The ones I tried don't seem to work at all. Not sure if it's my theme or what. The latest

I'm finding it's taking a long time to update my pages and sometimes just browsing my site is very slow. Not sure how to troubleshoot.
I agree, my site is in early development so there is not much to it and it has been slow lately as well.
I am sure that these will help but the sudden change in speed today makes me believe that it is due to the host site.
Constantly building your site makes it bigger and slower. A couple of things you can do:
1. Deactivate the plugins you are not using.
2. Get EWW Image optimizer to reduce the size of your images.
3. Get a caching plugin. I'm using ZenCache.
Hope this helped!

Do you guys link to certain words or phrases in your writing, or do you use a more formal reference style? Which is better?

I think I like a sort of in between style. I just created a post where the only links I have in the text are to pages on my site. Then at the bottom I have a list of references (links). I didn't put any numbers in the text.
Seems like I may have found something that works for me!

Yes, I do link a few of the references to certain words a.k.a anchor texts most of the time. It’s much easier that way (at least for me). I don’t like the formal reference because it looks like I’m writing an essay. I’m sure people are less likely to ask about the reference.
What is your reference style for linking to other websites?
