Spent a few days in the hospital, but getting better

Well, I suppose it comes with the job lol... Had my first serious dog bite happen on Saturday. Spent 4 days on IV antibiotics. My hand is still very sore, but it's healing nicely. The dogs were brought in for a board & train. They've lived peacefully together for 5 years. During Christmas a family member brought their dog and a fight broke out over food. Unfortunately the family didn't know how to deal with the dogs so they went did what most people would do and kept the dogs separated. This only added fuel to the fire, as the dogs spent every second of every day tied up on opposite sides of the room with nothing to do except stare each other down and blot the next fight. For 3 months they lived like this. Each time the owners tried letting the dogs be together another fight broke out. I offered to help them after learning that they were planning on rehoming one of the dogs. Day 1 - Didn't go so well lol. We're onto day 6 now, and we're finally making some progress =)

Wow, glad you'll be okay! Some people just don't know how to handle dogs at all. We're getting ready to introduce a new puppy to a 13-year old alpha female Siberian Husky. Wish us luck!

Oh boy how exciting!!! What kind of puppy are you getting? Yes, you're absolutely correct about some people not knowing how to handle dogs! What really bothers me is that this couple went through multiple trainers, and not one of the trainers was able to help them. I worked with the dogs for 6 days, and I'm happy to report they are back on track and getting a long just fine. Not one fight in 2 days! Considering when they were dropped off they didn't last 10 minutes before the first fight broke out, I'd say 2 days fight free is a great start =)

You are indeed the master at that! Our new little puppy, Cody, is a 12-week-old Siberian Husky. The introduction has gone pretty well, and our 13-year old girl husky has been quite tolerant of his relentless attention. He's starting to learn his name and we are making progress with housebreaking. Cody is getting better on a leash and slept in his crate last night for the first time (door open - one step at a time!). Boy, do puppies have a lot of energy!!!
